Raymond Burr Stamp Unveiled



A postage stamp featuring Raymond Burr, the star of Godzilla, King of the Monsters! has been unveiled.

NEW WESTMINSTER, B.C. - Canadian acting legend Raymond Burr, best known for his portrayal of defence attorney Perry Mason, is being commemorated in the form of a stamp.

Friends and family of New Westminster, B.C.-born Burr gathered for the unveiling.

The stamp is one in a set of four that will celebrate achievement of Canadians in Hollywood.

New Westminster Mayor Wayne Wright calls Burr one of the city's best known citizens.

Burr performed in more than 5,000 radio plays, 200 stage plays and 90 movies. He won two Emmy Awards for Perry Mason, which aired in the 1950s and 1960s.

Other stamps will feature Marie Dressler, Norma Shearer and Chief Dan George.
