Obama As Apollo In Greek Temple Stage

The Messiah Barack Obama (a.k.a. The Chosen One) will descend from the heavens like Apollo on a thunderbolt to arrive at Invesco Field for his acceptance speech Thursday.

Not really, but Sen. Barack Obama will deliver his acceptance speech Thursday night from a stage that resembles a Greek Temple. Some wags are already calling it "The Temple of Doom."

"Is this from the Onion?" quipped a McCain adviser.

The Onion is a satirical newspaper and the reference came after Reuters reported that Obama is planning an elaborate extravaganza complete with post-speech fireworks.

Some 80,000 Democrats will see Obama appear from between plywood columns painted off-white, reminiscent of Washington's Capitol building or even the White House, to accept the party's nomination for president.

The stage is similar to stages used for rock concerts and has been set up at the 50-yard-line of Invesco Field, the home of the Denver Broncos NFL team.

This has to be the most hilarious campaign in history. I wonder if they'll be wearing togas. Hail Caesar!
