G-TOUR: Kamakura and Mt. Fuji

Above, the Hachimangu Shrine in Kamakura.

On this day, five years ago, we headed out of Tokyo by bus and headed for Kamakura and Mt. Fuji.

En route, we passed Yokohama, but some of us were catching up on sleep and missed it. I woke up long enough to shoot some video of it as we crossed the suspension bridge (too much partying the night before).

We visited the Hachimangu Shrine and the Great Buddha of Kamakura. Unfortunately, one of our tour members became seriously ill and had to be ambulanced to a hospital. He did not re-join the tour and ended up in Japan longer than we.

After this, we headed to the 5th Station at Mt. Fuji (the coolest part of the trip, temperature-wise). I did my solemn duty and scattered the ashes of the Noble Grand Humbug of my fraternal group.

After this, we headed to Lake Kawaguchi and enjoyed a spectacular fireworks show.

Some tour members got to know each other better at our hotel's onsens.

Finally, sleep.
