Patricia Neal Dies of Cancer

Above, Paul Newman and Patricia Neal in "Hud."

We've lost another great actress.

The Seattle Times reported:

Patricia Neal, best known for her roles in "Hud" (for which she won an Oscar), "Breakfast at Tiffany's," "The Fountainhead" and "The Day the Earth Stood Still," died yesterday of cancer, at her home in Martha's Vineyard. She was 84.

Her memorable line in the 1951 The Day The Earth Stood Still (below, left), "Gort! Klaatu barada nikto!" will live forever in motion picture history.

She also played a nurse girlfriend to John Wayne in In Harm's Way (1965). She also starred with Wayne in Operation Pacific in 1951.

She had a long time marriage to screenwriter Roald Dahl (You Only Live Twice (1967)) until their divorce.
