Gareth Edwards On Godzilla

“It’s really too early to talk a lot about Godzilla, but I am very confident in Legendary Pictures' belief that we need to make the best film we possibly can. This will definitely have a very different feel than the most recent US film, and our biggest concern is making sure we get it right for the fans because we know their concerns. It must be brilliant in every category because I’m a fan as well.” - Gareth Edwards, director of Legendary Pictures/Warner Bros. Godzilla.

The above quote is from Gareth Edwards' recent interview on the subject of the upcoming Godzilla movie he's directing. It gives me hope that the movie will be true to its source and respectful to the character in general.

The "most recent US film" was the 1998 Godzilla that was made by Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin and released by Sony/Tri-Star. It was widely panned by Godzilla fans around the world. The monster in the movie didn't look or act like Godzilla.

If Legendary Pictures' Godzilla looks and acts like Godzilla, that alone would make me happy (it would certainly be a big step in the right direction).
