Bellamy Brothers vs. Britney Spears

This is amusing (from AOL News):

The songwriters behind Britney Spears' hit song 'Hold It Against Me' are firing back at the Bellamy Brothers for publically claiming that it's a rip-off of their 1979 song 'If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me.'

In previous reports, the brothers said that they wouldn't take Spears, or the song's producer Dr. Luke, to court but have changed course following talks with their attorney, Christopher E. Schmidt. "In my opinion, it is not necessarily the similarity of the titles that is of legal concern, this would be more of a trademark issue," Schmidt said in a statement on the Bellamy Brothers' site.

Boy, this brings back memories! I remember when I first heard the Bellamy Brothers' song. I was carpooling to and from work at the time with a friend and when the song came on the radio, we both looked at each other and said, "Jerry Saavedra!" and laughed. Saavedra used to use that line with women back in the 1970s.

By the way, the line, "If I said you had a beautiful body would you hold it against me?" was originated by Groucho Marx.
