Post-bin Laden: Obama Shows Incompetence

President Obama seems bent on snatching defeat from the jaws of victory in his handling of the aftermath of the killing of Osama bin Laden.

His speech Sunday night announcing bin Laden's death was the start. It was filled with too many "Is" and "mys." It struck me as I listened on the radio that it more about him instead of the Navy Seals and the intelligence community who did the actual work. And, it has been revealed that he had to "sleep on it" before giving the go-ahead for sixteen hours.

His decision today in not releasing a photo for bin Laden's corpse is not sitting well with many people. The purpose is not, as he termed it, "spiking the football," but to confirm to the world that bin Laden is indeed dead. Also, the people have the right to see the evidence. Taking him at his word is not sufficient.

Also, the ever-changing stories of the details of the assault in Pakistan doesn't help. Initially, Obama said we had the cooperation of the Pakistan government. Then it turns out they knew nothing about it. First they said bin Laden had a gun, then said he was unarmed. And so on.

This isn't Obama's fault, but there are liberal pundits and bloggers questioning the legality of the raid. Can you believe that? bin Laden killed over 3,000 people on September 11, 2001 and yet they question the "legality" of killing him! Incredible.

If Obama was to get a bounce by the killing of bin Laden, it would be a short-lived one. The only good it would have done for him was only if the election were held this week, not in November 2012.

People vote on pocketbook issues. Getting bin Laden was a good achievement, but if the economy is still in the tank in November 2012, it is all over for Obama.
