Jiji Press posted an interesting article.  It is on the effects of radiation from the Fukushima nuclear power plant on Japan's butterfly population.

According to the article:

Tokyo, Aug. 11 (Jiji Press)--Radioactive materials released due to the nuclear accident at Tokyo Electric Power Co.'s <9501> Fukushima No. 1 power plant have caused abnormalities in butterflies in Japan, a team of researchers has said.
"We conclude that artificial radionuclides from the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant caused physiological and genetic damage" to pale grass blue butterflies, a species common in Japan, said an article published recently on the British journal Nature.
Will we be seeing giant mutated butterflies fluttering around Japan?
