Gasoline: It Feels Like The 1970s Again

Above, this price is "cheap" compared to what this gas station is charging today.  Photo by Armand Vaquer.

It feels like the late-1970s again.

Gasoline is being rationed.  Prices have skyrocketed.  Today, I paid $4.39 per gallon of gas.  I saw premium gas prices at $4.85 early this afternoon.

The problems involve refinery and other problems (see this article).  The knee-jerk reaction would be to blame the Obama Administration.  They aren't the blame for the refinery problems, but they are at fault for not allowing off-shore oil drilling (but Obama supports Brazil's off-shore oil drilling, go figure), Alaska Anwar oil fields, the Keystone pipeline or permits for drilling on federal lands. They all add up after a while.  While they are killing the oil and coal energy industries, they are pumping our tax money into so-called "green" energy companies, many of which went belly-up like Solyndra Solar.

I suspect that it will be over $5.00 per gallon shortly here in California, if it isn't already.
