Shibuya 109 To Open Temporary Stores In Kamaishi

The store that was blasted in 2009 by Gamera (in Gamera 3) and by Megaguirus in 2000 (in Godzilla x Megaguirus) is doing something nice for earthquake and tsunami-stricken people in the disaster zone.

The Japan News is reporting:
MORIOKA--Special Shibuya 109 shops will be temporarily set up in Kamaishi, Iwate Prefecture, thanks to a letter sent by a middle school student to the company operating the popular fashion complex in Tokyo.
The project was initiated in response to a letter sent last autumn by Kana Uchikoshi, a third-year student at Kamaishi Middle School. Uchikoshi wrote about her desire to plan an event with Shibuya 109 to contribute to the revitalization of her city, which was hit hard by the Great East Japan Earthquake.
At a press conference held Monday at the municipal government office, Uchikoshi and her classmates showed members of the press the clothing and accessories that were designed based on their ideas. The items will be sold at 13 specialty Shibuya 109 outlets installed in the city.
The temporary stores will be open for three days.

The Shibuya 109 department store wasn't really blasted by Gamera or Megaguirus, but they are one of the most favored department stores in Tokyo's youth center of Shibuya.

If you have seen the videos of the destruction of the communities in the disaster zone of the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011, you already know how much the people in the area need all the help they can get to bring their lives back into some semblance of normalcy.
