Forbes.com Ideas On Japan Vacation Itineraries

Above, one suggestion given was a visit to the Tsukiji Fish Market. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

One would not usually consider Forbes.com anything other than a financial and business website. But, on occasion, they do have articles on other topics, including travel.

A Japan travel article posted by Forbes caught my attention, which led to an earlier article from December 2013. Both are equally meriting your attention if you are planning a vacation trip to Japan, Tokyo in particular. Both have great ideas on places to visit and things to do.

The first article is on "Spending Two Perfect Days In Tokyo." Here, Forbes has some suggestions on what to see and do in two days in Tokyo.

It begins with:
Lost in Translation captures both the enthralling allure and mysteriousness of Tokyo for uninitiated Westerners. Though it has been 10 years since the film’s premiere, it still holds up: Buzzing neighborhoods plastered with glowing signs and thick with crowds overload your senses. English signage is sparse, cab drivers many times don’t know where they are going and true to the film’s title, a lot of exchanges do get lost in translation, all of which makes it difficult to navigate through the city. But however you manage to get around, there’s much to love about the exciting metropolis, especially as it gears up as the site of the 2020 Summer Olympics. Here’s our guide to spending two days in Tokyo in style.
It just so happened that I watched Lost In Translation the other night (for the first time in a long while) and Forbes is right, the movie still holds up. It is amazing that it is a ten-year-old movie!

The second article is a new one from today. Here, Forbes has four recommendations on what to do for nearby getaways outside of Tokyo: "The Four Top Tokyo Day Trips."

They start the article with:
Tokyo likely sits on top of your travel bucket list, but you’d be remiss to limit your Japan travels to the one city. When you visit Tokyo, give yourself time for a day trip to explore the other facets of Japan—after all, the island is made up of 47 prefectures, each with its own slew of offerings.
