Passengers were stuck inside a shinkansen for two and a half hours with no lights or heaters due to a power outage caused by heavy snow.

According to The Japan Times:
Heavy snow caused a power outage along parts of the Joetsu Shinkansen Line for about six hours on Sunday morning, trapping about 300 passengers inside a bullet train.
The operator, East Japan Railway Co., said the outage was likely caused by heavy snow falling on the roof of the train.
Max Toki 300 left Niigata bound for Tokyo but stopped between Echigo-Yuzawa and Urasa stations after the blackout, which occurred at around 6:42 a.m., JR East said.
I rode the Joetsu Shinkansen Line when I went to Niigata in 2010.
