Onward To Monument Valley

Above, John Wayne in She Wore A Yellow Ribbon (1949) filmed in Monument Valley.

Since the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad trains aren't running, there's no need to hang around Durango any longer. So I am pushing on to Monument Valley.

Leaving Durango today will give me an extra day at Monument Valley to take the Goulding's tour and just relax while taking in the scenery.

Monument Valley was featured in many westerns, but it is best known as the location of several John Wayne movies that were directed by John Ford.

The last time I visited Monument Valley was around 1983 with a couple of friends.

From Durango, it is about a 3-4 hour drive.
