Phyllis Coates Turns 90 Today

Television's first Lois Lane, Phyllis Coates, turned 90 today.

She was born on January 15, 1927 in Wichita Falls, Texas as Gypsie Ann Evarts Stell.

She first portrayed Lois Lane in the 1951 feature, Superman and the Mole Men. She continued in the role during the first season (filmed in 1951) of the Adventures of Superman, sharing star billing with
George Reeves. She departed the series after the first season.

She is the last living main cast member of the Adventures of Superman.
