David Nunez, R.I.P.

Above, David Nunez with one of his prized posters.

The news today is unfortunately becoming more frequent as one gets older. You expect it, but it doesn't make it any easier, especially if they're younger than you and when that person was a real prince of a guy.

We lost David Nunez today. He resided in El Paso, Texas.

Kevin K. Boldt posted this today on Facebook (bold type by me):
I have some very sad news. We lost a very dear friend in David Nunez today. He was a very dear friend to all of us in the Kaiju community and he will be missed dearly by all his friends and family. He was 57. He was such a sincere friend to me and we were roommates at G-Fest for about five years and had some very good times together. He’s in a much better place now and I know that God will take very good care of him.
If anyone who knew David, please be kind to write something on his timeline. I’m sure it would mean a-lot to his family and friends to let them know he will always be remembered as one of the greatest fans in the Kaiju community. He will be missed dearly.
Please write something on David’s timeline to show that he will be loved by all of us.
Rest In Peace David and please remember all the good times we all had together. God Bless You.

David lost his battle to cancer. He was one G-fan who was one real nice guy and had a great collection of kaiju posters and he had equally great knowledge of them. I had learned he was battling cancer some weeks ago. Even though it has been about nine years since we last met up at G-FEST (but we remained in communication), his loss is still hard for the kaiju fan community and me.

Here's a post of David with his copy of The Monster Movie Fan's Guide To Japan from 2011.

Rest in peace, David. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.
