Durango and Colorado Planning Starts

Above, a Durango train leaving Durango, Colorado in 1983. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

After getting the new Good Sam RV Travel & Savings Guide in the mail today, I was perusing it to see what campgrounds are available in Colorado for this summer.

My former roommate Jessica will be coming over and we already discussed going up to Durango to ride the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. She had never been there before and I haven't since 1987.

Above, yours truly with the Durango train in Cascade Canyon in 1984.

While in Colorado, we may as well do some more exploring. Some of the places I'd like to see are Ridgway, where True Grit (1969) had some location filming done; Ouray; Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park (I've never been there); and, perhaps, on the way back, Mesa Verde National Park.

Colorado is a great state to camp out in and explore.
