Evening Drive

Since this evening was a pleasant evening, with the air temperature at around 57°, I decided to take a little drive around the community.

I didn't feel like watching television after dinner, so I figured that it would be nice to get out of the house for a little while.

I first drove uphill to the higher areas of the community past the water tanks along Birch Road and the upper area of Whispering Cedars Road.

Then I headed back down and ended up at the bridge, entrance and exit of Interstate 40. I sat there for a bit and enjoyed the view and watched the vehicles navigate around the construction barriers.

The construction work on the bridge and access ramps are supposed to be completed this spring. But it looks like the work will drag on into summer. We're already tired of it since we're reduced to one lane across the bridge.

This morning, we noticed that a new cattle guard was being installed at the entrance to our community. The old one was removed a few months ago. It was just as well, it was pretty worn out. On occasion, cattle do find their way out of their pasture's gate and wander into the community. So it makes sense that a cattle guard be installed to keep them from wandering onto the bridge or on the freeway. They'd be turned into instant hamburger if they did. It is bright yellow.

After sitting there for a while, I headed back home before the sun went down. All in all, it was a nice little drive.
