A Little Drive

Just a little bit ago, I got back home after taking the Jeep out for a spin in order to get more used to it.

The transmission system (3 speeds, plus reverse) is different than a standard car's. The shift positions of the gears are shown in the below diagram:



First gear, in passenger cars and trucks, is at the top left (where reverse is shown above), for example.

Since the Mustang is a 5-speed manual transmission, I have to keep the difference in mind while driving the Jeep. At least I am already used to driving vehicles with manual transmissions and clutches.

The fastest the Jeep drives is around 50 m.p.h., so I have to get on Interstate 40 and get off at the next exit (Iyanbito) and drive into Gallup on Historic Route 66. Thankfully, the motor vehicles office is on the east end of town. I will have to reverse the driving route on the return trip.
