In the old days, the stadiums to go to in Los Angeles were Gilmore Field, the home of the Hollywood Stars; Wrigley Field, the home of the Los Angeles Angels; Maier Park, the home of the Tigers and others.

Speaking of Los Angeles' Wrigley Field, in 1940 there was a charity baseball game involving Hollywood's stars of the day. The highlight of the game was the appearance of Boris Karloff as Frankenstein's monster.
Below, is a photo of Karloff up at bat.

And, here is another shot of Karloff at the game with make-up genius Jack Pierce standing by for any needed touch-up work.

I only personally remember Wrigley Field. I remember driving by it in the mid-1960s. It was located at 42nd Place and Avalon Blvd. The location is now the Gilbert Lindsay Recreational Center.
