John Edwards: The Breck Girl Indicted


Former Democratic Presidential candidate John "The Breck Girl" Edwards has been indicted.

WRAL.com reports:

Raleigh, N.C. — A federal grand jury on Friday indicted two-time Democratic presidential candidate and former North Carolina Senator John Edwards. He is charged with four counts of illegal campaign contributions, one count of conspiracy and one count of false statements.

A warrant was issued for his arrest, and he is expected to appear in federal court in Winston-Salem at 2:30 p.m. Friday and plead not guilty.

If convicted, Edwards faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine on the conspiracy charge. He faces five years in prison and a $250,000 fine on each count of accepting and receiving illegal campaign contributions and a maximum of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine on the charge of concealing the alleged illegal donations.


If convicted, it will be interesting to see how Edwards enjoys prison life once his fellow inmates find out about his "Breck Girl" nickname.
