Sir David Frost Dies At 74

Sir David Frost, whose televised interview sessions in 1977 with former President Richard Nixon paved the way for the rehabilitation of Nixon, died from an apparent heart attack.

From the Japan Times:

Sir David Frost, the veteran broadcaster who famously drew a grudging post-Watergate apology out of former President Richard Nixon, died Saturday aboard a cruise ship sailing from England to the Mediterranean. He was 74. 

His death, from an apparent heart attack, was confirmed in a statement his family released to the BBC. 

Known for his laid-back but probing style of interviewing, Frost gained access to an astonishing array of world figures during a five-decade career.

I thought Frost's relentless probing questions of Nixon on Watergate were fair. Although they were obviously an ordeal for Nixon to go through, they did serve to allow him to cleanse himself to the extent where he was able to contribute "in the arena" as an elder statesman to some degree. Frost's book on the Nixon Interviews was quite an interesting read with many humorous stories.
