The Japan Tourism Agency is set to promote historic locations as venues for foreign conferences.

According to The Japan Times:
The Japan Tourism Agency is going to publish a list of 85 historic buildings suitable for use as conference venues in the hopes of luring more foreign professionals who might then become tourists, officials said Tuesday.
It is the first time that the government has created a comprehensive list of what it calls “unique venues” — historic buildings like castles, temples and museums that can serve as memorable locations for business events such as meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions, otherwise known as MICE.
The agency will publish the list on its website in April, said Hiroyuki Kozuma, the agency’s deputy director of MICE Promotion and International Organization.
