Early Monsoon Season?

Monsoon season in New Mexico usually runs from mid-to-late June through September. This week, however, is forecast to have thunderstorms hitting the northwest part of the state. Last evening, we had some thundershowers come through Jamestown. This saved me on my water bill as I was going to water the yard yesterday.

Does this mean we're having an early monsoon season?

The National Weather Service forecast for Jamestown this week:

A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 9am. Partly sunny, with a high near 68. Southeast wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Tonight

A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Monday

A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 71. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming east in the afternoon.
