Mark Reed Seeks To Challenge Brad Sherman

Rep. Brad Sherman's district (the 27th C.D.) is predominantly Democrat. However, that isn't stopping at least one Republican to challenge Sherman next year.

Above, Rep. Brad Sherman.

Mark Reed, a Native American, is actively seeking the GOP nomination for congress in the 27th.

From Reed's website:

Reed, age 52, is a successful actor, activist and small businessman. After working in management positions for several years, he bought his first company at age 26 and opened a small retail store. He sold both and bought out his second company at age 32.

Mark’s acting career was inspired by his Cinematographer uncle, Fred Koenekamp, who won an Oscar for “Towering Inferno” and a nomination for “Patton”, along with his Grandfather Hans Koenekamp who won three Oscar nominations for cinematography. They were the first father and son to win the CSA President’s Life Time Achievement award.

Reed is an avid rancher, horseman, outdoorsman, community activist and animal lover. He enjoys freshwater and deep sea fishing, hiking and helicopter flying. He is an environmentalist and believes in the preservation of open space and wild scenic rivers.

He is currently making the rounds before Republican groups in the San Fernando Valley to drum up support and raise funds.

He will also need to contact Valley business leaders and other groups who may be receptive to his message. He also needs to spend a lot of time going door-to-door meeting the voters.

Does he have a chance? Maybe, maybe not. The democraphics of the district do not favor Reed (or any other Republican who may decide to run), but Republicans have been known to win in heavily Democrat districts on occasion.
