Noel Neill, the "original Lois Lane" and, currently, the "First Lady of Metropolis, Illinois," turned 92 today.

She was born November 25, 1920 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Her mother was a stage dancer and her father was a Minneapolis journalist.

Besides being an actress, Neill was also a professional singer and dancer.  She worked for several years with crooner Bing Crosby.

She first played reporter Lois Lane in the 1948 Columbia serial, Superman.  She repeated the role in 1950 in  a second serial, Atom Man vs. Superman.  Both serials featured Kirk Alyn as the Man of Steel.

She was called back to the Lois Lane role in 1950 for television's Adventures of Superman when Phyllis Coates opted to do another television series.  She remained in the role of Lois Lane until the series ended in 1957.

In June, 2010, a statue was erected in her honor in Metropolis, Illinois.

Happy Birthday, Noel!
