When I first heard that Godzilla wouldn't be released in Japan until July 25, I thought that was very bizarre. After all, Godzilla is a Japanese creation and it would have been fitting for Japan to have the honor to be first to release the movie theatrically.
Apparently, that was the deal between Godzilla's owners, Toho Co., Ltd. and Legendary Pictures/Warner Bros.
Japan is now gearing up to receive the "King of the Monsters" with Toho being the movie's distributor.
