It is interesting that the Willys Jeeps have a different transmission shift pattern than do standard cars and trucks.
Since I drive a 5-speed manual shift Mustang, I do occasionally get a little confused. Where first gear is on the Mustang, it is reverse on the Jeep. Even though they're both in a "H" configuration, they're way different.
Here's the standard pattern for cars and trucks with 5-speed manual transmissions:
Here's the shift pattern on the Jeep:
The "data plate" on the dashboard has the shift pattern, but it is a bit worn and is way over in front of the passenger seat. It is not convenient to see.
