Recent cease & desist letters to Las Vegas wedding chapels who provide Elvis Presley-themed wedding has caused a big stir in the town.
ET Canada has reported that ex-wife Priscilla Presley said those letters "has nothing to do with me." They were issued by the official Elvis Presley licensing company Authentic Brands Group (ABG).
“As the guardians of the Elvis Presley estate, it is our responsibility to safeguard his legacy,” ABG said in a statement to CNN. “This includes ensuring that all products, services, and advertisements utilizing Elvis’ name, image, or likeness are officially licensed by Elvis Presley Enterprises.”
It appears that the Elvis-themed chapels in Las Vegas can continue if they take out a license with ABG. It would be interesting to see what the price for a license would be. ABG says it is not their intent to shut down the chapels.
