A Short Jeep Ride

Above, at the entrance to Six Mile Canyon. Note the storm clouds moving in.

A little while ago, I took a short Jeep drive on Six Mile Canyon Road to the entrance into the canyon next to the old corral.

It was mainly to test the Jeep out with the new carburetor with all the bouncing around it does on the rough road. It did fine. Previously, with the old carburetor, the bouncing around would make it occasionally conk out or hesitate.

But I tried it out in first and second gears as I crossed the big culvert. It handled it fine as well.

I would have gone into Six Mile Canyon, but the weather looked a bit threatening (note the clouds in the photo above). We have a 50% chance of thunderstorms this afternoon and I didn't want to get caught in it.

According to the National Weather Service, today looks like this:

 This Afternoon

Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 3pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 82. Southwest wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Tonight
Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 9pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 56. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
