Classic Rock Music Monday

The stuff that now passes as "music", particularly rock 'n roll, leaves me cold. So, to start off the week, here's a video of a classic rock artist.

To start off this week and wrapping up July, we have The Human Beinz with their hit "Nobody But Me" from 1968. They started in 1964 and are still active.

From Wikipedia:

The Human Beinz (/ˈbiːɪnz/ BEE-inz) is an American rock band from Youngstown, Ohio. Originally known as the Premiers, the band initially featured John Richard "Dick" Belley (vocals, guitar), Joe "Ting" Markulin (vocals, guitar), Mel Pachuta (vocals, bass), and Gary Coates (drums), later replaced by Mike Tatman.

Their only hit record in the US, "Nobody But Me", peaked in 1968 at number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Here's we have them performing in a vintage video and another of Pan's People dancing to the song.

Classic Rock Music Monday

The stuff that now passes as "music", particularly rock 'n roll, leaves me cold. So, to start off the week, here's a video of a classic rock artist.

To start off the week, we have T-Rex (formerly known as Tyrannosaurus Rex) with their 1971 hit "Jeepster". We have two videos for your enjoyment: one posted by Polydor and one with Pan's People.

From Wikipedia:

T. Rex (originally Tyrannosaurus Rex) were an English rock band formed in London in 1967 by singer-songwriter and guitarist Marc Bolan, who was their leader, frontman and only consistent member. Though initially associated with the psychedelic folk genre, Bolan began to change the band's style towards electric rock in 1969, and shortened their name to T. Rex the following year. This development culminated in 1970 with their first significant hit single "Ride a White Swan", and the group soon became pioneers of the glam rock movement.

Classic Rock Music Monday

The stuff that now passes as "music", particularly rock 'n roll, leaves me cold. So, to start off the week, here's a video of a classic rock artist.

To start off the week, we have Van McCoy and his 1975 hit of the disco era, "The Hustle". The first video is of the song is with Pan's People of Top of the Pops fame in England. The second video is the official one. "The Hustle" went to No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Soul Singles charts during the summer of 1975.

From Wikipedia:

Van Allen Clinton McCoy (January 6, 1940 – July 6, 1979) was an American record producer, arranger, songwriter and singer. He is known for his 1975 internationally successful hit "The Hustle". He has approximately 700 song copyrights to his credit, and produced songs by such recording artists as Brenda & the Tabulations, David Ruffin, The Stylistics, The Presidents, Faith, Hope & Charity, New Censation, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Aretha Franklin, Peaches & Herb, Lesley Gore, and Stacy Lattisaw.

Pan's People: "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet"

A little while ago, I finished putting together tomorrow's Classic Rock Music Monday entry. It will go live at 2:00 am tomorrow morning.

Without giving away who the artist being spotlighted, I'll just say that the song is from 1971. In fact, the next three Classic Rock Music Mondays will be from 1971. I didn't plan them that way, it just worked out that one led to another and another.

The summer of 1971 was a good year in rock music, I have to say.

For now and for the fun of it, here's Pan's People (from Britain's Top of the Pops from 1974) with "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet" by Bachman Turner Overdrive.

Classic Rock Music Monday To Return Next Week

Above, yours truly at the clampout in Tombstone last weekend.

Since I was on the road from the clampout and Old Tucson yesterday, I couldn't get to doing the Classic Rock Music Monday to start this week. Frankly, I was close to being exhausted and I had to unload the RV and do laundry when I got home. I usually plan them days in advance.

So, Classic Rock Music Monday will return next Monday.

However, to tide you over until then, here's Pan's People with Three Dog Night's "Joy To The World" from 1971:
