NSSF: Canadian-Style Gun Grab Is Happening Here

Do you think that Canadian-style gun grabbing can't happen in the United States where we have the Second Amendment?

Think again, it is happening and pro-Second Amendment groups are fighting radical politicians to preserve our Second Amendment rights.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) posted the following:

There’s a self-soothing notion that the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution keeps the excesses of an overreaching government away from the gun safes of law-abiding gun owners. That notion is just that. It’s veneer-thin, just a wisp away from the shifting political winds that are already blowing across several states that could usher in Canadian-style gun confiscation to the United States.

The fact is that the Second Amendment requires constant vigilance against politicians who would disarm Americans “for their own safety.” That’s why NSSF is battling proposed bans — and even illegal dispossession — of lawfully-owned firearms and magazines in states like Virginia and New Mexico. Legislators there would join California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington and the District of Columbia in banning Modern Sporting Rifles (MSRs), the most popular selling centerfire rifle in America. There are over 32 million MSRs in circulation today.

The popularity of these commonly owned and typically possessed firearms and standard capacity magazines doesn’t matter much to politicians bent on banning them. The popularity of these rifles and magazines does matter to the Second Amendment, however.

Those like Virginia’s Democratic Delegate Dan Helmer claim that AR-15-style rifles are “weapons of war — similar to the ones I carried in in Afghanistan.”

But they are not. They’re simply semiautomatic rifles that operate in the same manner as a duck-hunting shotgun. The rifle Delegate Helmer carried in Afghanistan was a machinegun capable of firing automatically, a feature that’s been heavily regulated since 1937 and prohibited for sale in new firearms since 1986.

Delegate Helmer claims the bill he’s sponsoring in Virginia is about preventing violence, saving lives and putting public safety first. Meanwhile, New Mexico’s Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said the proposed MSR ban in her state, “will save lives and make our state a better place to raise a family.”

But this is a false narrative. Banning MSRs and magazines is in the name of “preventing violence, saving lives and putting public safety first” will only disarm law-abiding citizens, it will nothing to disarm criminals who are the real problem and who will ignore these laws.

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and other leftist politicians are full of shit as usual. The current fight in New Mexico is over SB 17, a gun grab bill if there ever was one.

JPMorgan Chase Ends Gun Industry Banking Restrictions

Over the past few years, leftists pressured banks and other financial institutions into "debanking" companies in the firearms industry.

JPMorgan Chase has announced that they will no longer engage in the practice.

The Truth About Guns reported:

The dangerous epidemic of large banking institutions discriminating against, or “debanking,” companies within the gun industry—especially makers of modern semi-auto rifles incorrectly referred to by many as “assault weapons”—has been occurring for a long time.

And JPMorgan Chase, one of the largest financial institutions in the country, has been right in the middle of the controversy. Now, however, it seems leadership at JPMorgan Chase is finally going to do the right thing.

According to a news item posted online on February 2 by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the big bank recently announced that its policy of denying services to manufacturers of modern semi-automatic rifles has been rescinded.

“That’s a welcome reversal of policy after NSSF met with JPMorgan Chase officials to work to end the discriminatory policy,” Larry Keane, NSSF senior vice president and general counsel, wrote in the news item. “It is also the most recent of the big banks, including Bank of America and Citigroup, that have shifted banking service policies that previously froze out members of the firearm industry.”

This is indeed welcome news.

Americans Own Over A Combined 500 Million Firearms

Gun owners would be one huge voting block if they all voted in unison during elections.

The reason being is that it is estimated that over 500 million firearms are owned by people.

MSN reported:

If guns were votes, America would already be a landslide.

A new estimate from a Second Amendment group suggested that Americans collectively own more than 500 million firearms, a staggering figure that underscores just how deeply embedded gun ownership remains in the national fabric -- despite years of political pressure, media panic, and legislative headwinds aimed at shrinking it.

According to estimates analyzed by the Firearm Industry Trade Association, also known as the NSSF, gun ownership is absolutely thriving in the Land of the Free.

August Is National Shooting Sports Month

In case you haven't heard, August is National Shooting Sports Month.

This is the eighth National Shooting Sports Month.

From the NSSF:

NSSF, the firearm industry trade association, invites everyone to celebrate the shooting sports during the 2025 National Shooting Sports Month this August. Whether you’re an experienced marksman, a first-time gun owner or someone simply curious about the shooting sports, there’s no better time to get involved, improve your skills and introduce someone new to the range.

Now in its eighth year, National Shooting Sports Month encourages all Americans to experience the excitement of target shooting while promoting safe and responsible firearm use. Ranges, retailers, manufacturers and industry partners across the country are joining forces to host special events, training sessions and promotions throughout the month.

President Trump has issued a message on National Shooting Sports Month.

It begins with:

From the earliest days of our great national story, hunters, fishers, sportsmen, and gun owners have carried forth a storied legacy of recreation and competition, proudly embodying our timeless principles of liberty, responsibility, and self-reliance.  This National Shooting Sports Month, my Administration honors these cherished American traditions—and we pledge to keep them alive and flourishing for generations to come.

What States Have The Most Gun Stores?

Above, Bass Tackle Master in Lake Havasu City. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Whenever I visit friends in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, I marvel at the number of gun stores in the city. They seem to be as plentiful there as nail salons in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles County. The city of Phoenix has the most in the state.

This raised a question: What states have the most gun stores?

24/7 Wall St. says that the state of Wyoming has the most. Arizona comes in at number 30.

They posted an article on this a year ago and it begins with:

The National Shooting Sports Foundation estimates America’s guns and ammunition industry directly generated over $60.5 billion in economic activity in the last two years alone. Much of that was fueled by record-breaking gun sales following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, as millions of Americans across the country – including many first-time gun buyers – flocked to firearm retailers.

According to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, there are over 56,700 federally licensed gun stores in the United States. Adjusting for population, this comes out to about 17 for every 100,000 Americans.

In certain parts of the country, however, the concentration of gun stores is far higher than average. This is particularly the case in states with deeply ingrained gun cultures — where gun rights are well protected and where residents are most likely to have a gun in their home.

Using data from the ATF, 24/7 Wall St. identified the states with the most gun stores. We ranked all 50 states on the number of federally licensed firearm dealers, including pawn shops, for every 100,000 residents. ATF firearm retailer data is current as of October 2023 and was adjusted using population estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2022 American Community Survey.

Harris Victory = Gun Sale Surge

Today is Election Day.

This will be a watershed day in the nation.

Much has been said and written about what a Harris victory means. There is one thing that is sure to happen if she does win (pray to God she doesn't and get your behind out and vote for Trump): a surge in gun sales and ammunition.

The Washington Examiner posted the following:

Sales of guns took a temporary pause last month as the public headed into an Election Day that could determine the future of the Second Amendment.

The FBI said background checks fell, and the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the firearms industry group that parses those reports for sales numbers, said they were down about 5%.

Still, NSSF said the market remains strong and recorded the 63rd consecutive month of sales over 1 million.

“These figures tell elected officials where America stands on support for the Second Amendment,” NSSF spokesman Mark Oliva said.

In 2016, when it appeared that Hillary Clinton was headed to a solid victory over Donald Trump, gun sales surged at the end of the campaign.

This year, the race appears tied, though each side believes it is ahead.

As a result, said some gun sellers, many have paused purchases, especially those who are concerned that Harris will revert to her preelection positions of pushing for gun control and possibly gun confiscation.

Should she win, they anticipate a flood of customers, new and old.

“With the polls razor close, a lot of buyers are taking a wait-and-see approach. However, given the history of social unrest and rioting following election days, we expect a spike in sales no matter who wins. Fear sells firearms, and when people’s timelines and news feeds are filled with people committing violence, they naturally seek comfort by buying guns,” said Justin Anderson, the marketing director for Hyatt Guns in Charlotte, North Carolina, one of the nation’s largest gun stores.

Albuquerque Gun Control 'Task Force' Sputters To A Halt

Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham of New Mexico and Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller tried and failed in their efforts to reduce gun violence, which is not a surprise since they targeted law-abiding citizens instead of going after criminals.

The NSSF (National Shooting Sports Foundation) posted an article on their failures.

It begins with:

New Mexico continues to be a shining example of gun control activists and politicians overreaching to restrict law-abiding citizens’ ability to exercise Second Amendment rights instead of pursuing violent criminals. The failure of the so-called leaders to address those breaking the laws and punishing the ones that follow it is a major reason why residents of Albuquerque rank crime and public safety as a top concern.

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham made waves for her ill-fated attempts at suspending Constitutional rights within the state’s largest county, saying “No constitutional right, in my view, including my oath, is intended to be absolute.” She was brushed back by the courts and forced to recalibrate.

The latest example by city officials in Albuquerque shows their efforts yielded more fizzle than fruition in reducing criminal violence.

The Gun Lobby Has A New Leader In D.C.

As the National Rifle Association struggles following the corruption trial of Wayne LaPierre, other pro-gun groups are poised to fill the void, such as Gun Owners of America.

But, National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) appears to be the new leader in D.C.

According to NBC News:

WASHINGTON — The top advocate for the gun industry in Washington is spending more than ever to influence the federal government. The group accuses President Joe Biden of waging war on the Second Amendment. It resists any effort to create universal background checks and argues that attempts to crack down on untraceable “ghost guns” are unnecessary.

And it’s not the National Rifle Association.

The NSSF, founded more than 60 years ago to promote hunting and recreational shooting, has grown into the country’s largest firearms trade association. The organization spent more than $5.4 million on federal lobbying last year, more than in any other year in its history and more than twice as much as the NRA, according to federal records.

The NRA — long seen as synonymous with the gun-rights movement — has struggled with declining membership and revenue, as well as internal scandals. The latest blow came when its longtime leader, Wayne LaPierre, was found liable for corruption in a New York court last month.

As the NRA cuts back on federal lobbying, its troubles have created an opportunity for other gun-rights advocates to expand — especially the NSSF.

Would Biden Be Able To Pass His Gun Tax?

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris is one of the most anti-Second Amendment tickets to ever have been nominated for president and vice president in our history.

Here's a good reason why it is hoped that President Trump prevails in his lawsuits over vote fraud in different battleground states.

From Hot Air:

Assuming Joe Biden winds up being sworn in as the 46th president, he has a lot of promises to keep to his supporters. Many of them can still be found on his campaign website. One item that was barely even mentioned during the debates and Joe’s infrequent speeches during the general election race is his expansive plans to enact harsh new gun control measures. As the Free Beacon notes this week, Biden not only assured his liberal supporters that he would be engaging in some gun confiscation, but he would also impose steep taxes on those who retained possession of some of the “bad, scary-looking guns” and associated accessories. Given all that’s been going on lately, do you think he’s really even going to try?

American gun owners could face tens of billions of dollars in new taxes to keep the guns they already own under Democrat Joe Biden’s gun ban and tax plan.

At least 20 million rifles and 150 million ammunition magazines would be caught up in the sales ban and registration scheme Biden touted on the campaign trail, according to a National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) report. The new taxes would cost Americans more than $34 billion, according to a Washington Free Beacon analysis.

NSSF told the Washington Free Beacon the sheer number of affected guns and magazines could pose a significant problem for Biden’s gun-control plans.

Biden Would Ban and Criminalize Popular Sports Rifles

If you happen to be a proponent of the Second Amendment, you had better read the following article on Joe Biden's (and the Democrats) plans to ban and criminalize the most popular centerfire rifles.

The Daily Caller reported:

The National Shooting Sports Foundation, the trade association for the firearm industry, is focusing on former Vice President Joe Biden’s radical antigun campaign promise to ban, register and confiscate the most popular selling centerfire rifles – the modern sporting rifle – sold in America today. Biden borrowed a page from the failed campaign of Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke to craft an agenda that would hobble Constitutionally-protected rights for law-abiding Americans.

“Joe Biden’s gun grab isn’t original, but is it is shockingly honest that they admit the end game. His campaign promise to confiscate guns rips the mask off the lie told by gun control for decades,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “Yes, they are coming for your guns. The Biden-Harris campaign literally spelled out how they would do this and would violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution, but instead destroy it.”

The Biden-Harris gun control agenda proposes to ban the sale and manufacture of modern sporting rifles, or what the campaign terms “assault rifles” or “weapons of war.” In fact, these firearms are just semiautomatic firearms that uses 100-year-old technology and have been sold commercially since the early 1960s. Semiautomatic firearms expend one round for each squeeze of the trigger, unlike the military’s automatic firearms that continue to fire automatically while the trigger is depressed. The Biden campaign is purposefully conflating the similar appearances of AR-15s and the military’s M-16 and M-4 rifles to confuse the American public.
