Dems Push For Taxpayer-Funded Tampons In Men's Rooms

This could go into the Looney Left Report, but I decided to post this otherwise.

The state of Maryland is having financial problems, yet the Democrats would rather waste taxpayers' money on ridiculous things, such as tampons in men's/boy's restrooms.

I kid you not!

From WBFF:

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WBFF) — As Maryland faces a billion-dollar deficit and mounting questions over government oversight, state lawmakers are advancing a bill that would require tampons and other menstrual products in all public restrooms, including men’s rooms.

The proposal, introduced by 17 House Democrats, has sparked debate in Annapolis over priorities, cost transparency and how taxpayer dollars should be spent as lawmakers race toward the end of the legislative session.

Maybe there's high numbers of shooting incidents and the boys need the tampons for bullet wounds?

Abe's Taxzilla Contracts Japan's Economy

When the government of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced that they were going to raise the consumption tax from 5% to 8% in April to pay down Japan's budget debt, I had to shake my head.

The Japanese economy has been in the doldrums since the bubble burst in the 1990s and the government desired to give it a big boost. But raising the consumption tax was not the way to do it. Raising the consumption tax would be a sure-fire way to put a major damper on the Japanese economy. What I thought would happen, did happen.

Also, the Abe government announced that they may raise the consumption tax again to 10%. Again, I had to shake my head.

What was the result of the 3% tax hike that took effect in April?

Here's what Bloomberg.com posted:
Japan’s economy contracted more than the government initially estimated, highlighting the challenge for Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in steering the nation through the aftermath of a sales-tax increase.
Gross domestic product contracted an annualized 7.1 percent in the three months through June, more than a preliminary reading of a 6.8 percent fall, the Cabinet Office said today in Tokyo. The median forecast of 25 economists surveyed by Bloomberg News was for a 7 percent drop.
When the tax hike was announced, I thought then that it was the wrong way to go if the government really wanted to re-ignite the economy and generate revenue to pay down the deficit.

The route they should have taken was what President Reagan did in the 1980s: cut taxes. The tax cuts and de-regulation measures the Reagan Administration instituted re-ignited the U.S. economy. The tax cuts actually generated more revenue for the government as it provided incentives for business to expand and gave taxpayers more pocket money to spend. Unfortunately, instead of paying down the U.S. deficit, the Democrat-controlled Congress spent more.

By raising taxes, people will tighten their belts and spend less. That is simple human nature. In Japan, consumers did tighten their belts and the Japanese economy contracted. This was the opposite effect of what the Abe government wanted. And they want to raise the consumption tax again by another 2%?! It will be sheer stupidity if they follow through and raise the consumption tax again.

Won't they ever learn?

Obama Storms Out Of Debt Negotiations

President Obama got agitated at a conference with congressional leaders on the debt and "stormed" out.

Fox News is reporting:

Budget negotiators will return to the White House once more Thursday after the president declared "enough is enough" on debt talks Wednesday, demanding that congressional leaders find common ground by week's end.

President Obama walked out of the high-level negotiations, saying according to a Republican aide, "I've reached my limit. This may bring my presidency down, but I won't yield on this."

Obama "stormed out of the room" but promised to resume talks Thursday, the GOP aide said.

"He became very agitated, said 'Ronald Reagan wouldn't sit here. You either have to compromise on the dollar figure or the grand bargain,'" Cantor said. "He said, 'Don't call my bluff. I'm going to the American people on this.'"

Obama, in his cushy job as a community organizer and agitator, never had to deal with any kind of real opposition. Now that he has opposition, he can't handle it.

Obama's Economic Terrorism Scare Tactic

President Obama says he can't guarantee that Social Security checks will go out August 3 if the debt limit isn't raised on August 2. (Note the deadline he's put forth is the day before the checks go out?)

CBS News posted an interview with Obama:

President Obama on Tuesday said he cannot guarantee that retirees will receive their Social Security checks August 3 if Democrats and Republicans in Washington do not reach an agreement on reducing the deficit in the coming weeks.

"I cannot guarantee that those checks go out on August 3rd if we haven't resolved this issue. Because there may simply not be the money in the coffers to do it," Mr. Obama said in an interview with CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley, according to excerpts released by CBS News.

No money in the coffers?!

Wait a minute. Social Security is a trust fund paid for by you, me, our grandparents, our parents and our children. Obama is admitting that there's no money in the trust fund and is borrowed money.

Senator Marco Rubio drove this point home in an interview today with Rush Limbaugh:

RUSH: So we will only go into default if Obama makes us default. I mean he can stop this, right?

SENATOR RUBIO: Sure. He can stop it right now by basically saying, "You know what, we need to do something to grow our economy. Let's pass tax reform. Let's pass regulatory reform." He can stop this by also starting to implement some of the spending measures we think are necessary. He can also stop it by basically prioritizing spending on certain things if it comes to that. But let me tell you one thing, Rush, that no one said yet or maybe they have, the fact that payments on Social Security and Medicare may stop is a stinging indictment and a wake-up call. What Americans should realize, "Hold on a second, my Social Security check and my Medicare benefits are borrowed? The money that you're using to pay for my Social Security are borrowed? I thought I paid into a trust fund. I thought I worked my whole life to pay into some system and now you're paying my money back and you're claiming that the money is being borrowed?" That's what they're basically conceding when they're saying this.

Where do you suppose he got some of the money for his massive spending over the past two and a half years that has gotten this country into a $14 trillion hole? The Social Security trust fund! All this spending was to create his socialist utopia and to pay off his union buddies.

Obama is also lying. Entitlements aren't supposed to be affected by the debt limit. Social Security is an entitlement.

Obama is holding a gun to the heads of senior citizens. This is nothing less than economic terrorism.

Obama, The Town Whore Preaching Chastity

Well, I just got done spending about two hours doing my daughter's federal and state tax returns through TaxAct.com (used them for years and never had a problem).

In case you weren't aware, we have three additional days to file our tax returns this year. It seems that April 15 (the normal tax day) falls on some East Coast (or something) holiday celebration of some sort. So instead of just giving them the extra days, the kindly government gave it to everyone. So we have to April 18 to file our taxes. Ain't that nice of them?

Speaking of our government, President Obama spoke on reducing the federal deficit today and said (Source: MoneyNews.com):

“We have to live within our means, reduce our deficit, and get back on a path that will allow us to pay down our debt,” Obama said at George Washington University in the capital. “And we have to do it in a way that protects the recovery.”

Uh-huh. This is coming from the guy who ran up (along with the Democrats in the House and Senate led by Pelosi and Reid) the biggest deficits in history!

This is like listening to the town whore preaching chastity.
