Gun Owners of America Lauds Mexico Smackdown By SCOTUS

Gun Owners of America issued a press release of the smackdown of Mexico's lawsuit against U.S. gun manufacturers.

It reads in part:

Washington, D.C. – Gun Owners of America (GOA), alongside Gun Owners Foundation (GOF) and a nationwide coalition of Second Amendment advocates, is celebrating today’s 9-0 decision by the U.S. Supreme Court rejecting the Mexican government’s radical attempt to sue American gun manufacturers for cartel violence fueled by Mexico’s own failed disarmament policies. 

The case, Smith & Wesson Brands, Inc. v. Estados Unidos Mexicanos, marked an unprecedented effort by a foreign government to hold lawful U.S. businesses liable for criminal acts committed entirely outside the United States. GOA previously filed an amicus brief urging the Court to dismiss the case as a dangerous affront to American sovereignty and gun rights. 

In its unanimous opinion, the Court held that Mexico’s lawsuit “attempts an end-run around the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA),” and affirmed that American gun makers cannot be held liable for the criminal misuse of firearms by third parties—especially foreign cartels.

What Supreme Court Justices Said About Mexico’s Lawsuit

Mexico's case against U.S. gun manufacturers is being heard before the Supreme Court. 

Instead of taking responsibility for their lack of prosecutions against drug cartels, Mexico is trying to hold gun manufacturers liable.

America's 1st Freedom reported:

On March 4, the U.S. Supreme Court justices heard oral arguments from opposing attorneys in Smith & Wesson v. Estados Unidos Mexicanos, a civil suit in which Mexico—with the help of U.S. gun-control proponents—is suing American gun companies for $10 billion because of violence committed by Mexican drug cartels on Mexican citizens.

This case is so obviously founded upon anti-gun politics that, in an amicus brief to the Court on the case, the NRA states, “Mexico has extinguished its constitutional arms right and now seeks to extinguish America’s.”

Gun-control groups and politicians who embrace gun bans and other anti-gun efforts are supporting Mexico’s suit.

The politics of the anti-Second Amendment groups and individuals supporting this lawsuit are so clear that the justices began by attempting to determine what law or statute the American companies had allegedly broken.

This led to legal discussion on a “predicate exception” to a 2005 law—the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA)—that specifically bars frivolous suits that attempt to hold a lawful manufacturer, distributor or seller of a firearm responsible if that product was later used in a criminal manner by a third party.

The attorney representing gun makers, Noel Francisco, pointed out early on that if “Mexico is right, then every law-enforcement organization in America has missed the largest criminal conspiracy in history operating right under their nose, and [according to this illogical deduction’] Budweiser [would be] liable for every accident caused by underage drinkers since it knows that teenagers will buy beer, drive drunk and crash.”

As the hearing went on, some of the justices echoed this concern.

SCOTUS To Hear Mexico's Lawsuit Against U.S. Gun Manufacturers

The lawsuit by Mexico against U.S. gun manufacturers will be heard by the U.S. Supreme Court. The case will be heard tomorrow.

USA Today reported:

WASHINGTON − A federal law that protects the firearm industry didn’t stop the parents of the victims of the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School mass shooting from going after the gun maker.

But in the first test of the law before the Supreme Court on Tuesday, the justices are expected to cast a more skeptical eye on Mexico’s attempt to hold American gun companies responsible for the violence caused by drug cartels armed with U.S.-made weapons.

This time, gun violence prevention groups worry the Supreme Court could side with gun makers in a way that would go far beyond this dispute between Mexico and American gun companies.

Drug Cartels Ravaging Arizona, Montana Indian Reservations

Last week, Gov. Tim Walz, Kamala Harris's running mate, appeared at a rally in Window Rock, Arizona. Window Rock is the capital of the Navajo Nation. 

For some odd reason, Native Americans tend to vote Democrat. But in doing so, they are cutting their own throats as the open border policies of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are allowing the drug cartels target tribal reservations.

The Daily Signal reported:

The Biden-Harris administration’s border crisis has had negative implications for all Americans, but one group that has suffered more than most—but received less attention than others—are American Indians living on reservations along the border.

As part of their efforts to smuggle drugs and traffic human beings across the southern border, Mexican cartels have specifically targeted and devastated these reservations.

Jurisdictional issues, insufficient law enforcement, and the open border all allow cartels to exploit tribal land and proliferate deadly substances like fentanyl on American Indian land.

Hopefully, former President Trump's rally in Albuquerque yesterday will do some good in swaying tribes to vote more Republican than in the past.

Grisham Calls For Special Session For Gun Control

New Mexico Gov. "Malevolent" Michelle Lujan Grisham is calling for a special session of the legislature to take up "public safety protections", which is her euphemism for gun control. 

However, if this special session is for dealing with the southern border that the Mexican cartels control, then I would be for it. But she previously said that she wants her gun control proposals passed and may call a special session to do it.

According to the Santa Fe New Mexican:

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced Wednesday she will call the Legislature into a special session July 18 "to take up additional public safety protections that New Mexicans demand."

“While we made some progress toward a safer New Mexico during the 30-day day session, we agree that we must do more,” Lujan Grisham said in a statement.

“The special session in July will enable us to deliver additional statutory changes that reduce the danger and risk New Mexico communities face every day," she said. "The best proposals for making our state safer will be under consideration, and I welcome input from my colleagues in the legislature."

She couldn't get all that she wanted during the legislature's regular session in infringing upon New Mexican's Second Amendment rights, so she is trying to ram them through in a special session. Despicable!

Texas Real Estate Developer Creating Cartel City

This is a weird story. It is weird that it hasn't been stopped.

A Texas developer is giving illegal aliens home loans to create their own community about sixty square miles in size.

According to Headline USA:

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) A Texas land developer has decided to create a city of illegal immigrants by giving out easy home loans to new foreigners, the Daily Wire reported.

The sprawling settlement of Colony Ridge is located north of Houston, consuming over 60 square miles of land. Its population—most of whom are presumed to be illegal immigrants—is already estimated to be somewhere between 50,000 and 75,000.

The “town” is reportedly filled with stray dogs, dilapidated buildings, half-finished construction and full-time tent campers.

Colony Ridge is the brainchild of developer William “Trey” Harris, who is using what most would consider to be predatory lending practices that exploit the vulnerability and desperation of newly arrived illegals looking for a place to live.

U.S. Teen Killed In Cartel Ambush

It boggles the mind that Americans still insist on traveling in areas of Mexico what are deep in drug cartel warfare. So it shouldn't be a surprise that they get caught in the crossfire or are targeted by cartel factions.

It also boggles the mind that liberals still oppose border barriers despite attacks.

Breitbart reported the latest incident which left a U.S. teen dead:

A United States citizen teenager from Oklahoma died and several of his relatives sustained gunshot injuries after a squad of Mexican cartel gunmen ambushed them in Mexico near the border with Texas. The family was traveling back to the U.S. when the cartel hitmen attacked them on a highway. 

The shooting took place on Saturday evening in Nueva Ciudad Guerrero, just south of Falcon Dam, when members of the Castillo family were traveling on two Chevrolet SUVs when a group of gunmen attacked them, information provided to Breitbart Texas by Tamaulipas law enforcement sources revealed.

Trump To Designate Mexican Drug Cartels As Terrorist Groups

President Trump announced that he plans to designate Mexican drug cartels as "terrorist groups". 

Thus far, the Mexican government has done little or nothing to eradicate the cartels.

The New York Post reported:

President Trump said he plans to designate Mexican drug cartels as terrorist groups and “start hitting them with drones.” 

“I don’t want to say what I’m going to do, but they will be designated,” Trump told former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly in a radio interview Tuesday. 

“I will be designating the cartels . . . absolutely. I have been working on that for the last 90 days,” he added. 

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador responded Wednesday, saying, “Cooperation, yes, interventionism, no.” 

The leftist leader noted that he asked Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard to set up talks with Washington. Ebrard said he was “already in communication” with Team Trump.

Mick Rich, a Republican primary candidate for U.S. Senate for New Mexico, noted:

The Mexican government has failed to stop the drug cartels, yet Ben Ray Lujan [Democrat candidate for U.S. Senate] wants open borders. That’s a dangerous combination. As your next U.S. Senator, I will treat drug cartels as terrorists. I take your security seriously.

Lujan's cousin, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, opposes the construction of the U.S.-Mexico border wall.

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham PULLS Nat’l Guard Troops From Border, Drug Smuggling Explodes

If anyone needs a clear example of the word lunatic, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham fills the bill.

According to Borderpac.org:

New Mexico’s new, Trump-hating open-borders governor has taken radical actions just to spite the President — but the results are proving disastrous for her own state, and likely nation as well. 

Trump deployed National Guard and U.S. Army troops to the Mexican border to deal with a huge increase in illegal entries in January.

In act of what she called “resistance” against the president, New Mexico’s Democratic governor, Michelle Lujan Grisham withdrew 118 National Guard troops from the state’s southern boundary. 

She said she did it to counter what she called Trump’s “charade of border fear-mongering,” and as a “protest” against Trump’s move to ban “transgendered” troops from the U.S. military. 

The results have been nothing short of disastrous, with drug smuggling activities “exploding” since her deranged move.

Unfortunately, there is no provision in New Mexico's constitution or laws providing for the recall (removal) of an elected state official by the vote of the people.

Illegal Immigrants Overrunning National Parks

Here is a topic that isn't getting much, if any, notice by the mainstream media.

It is that illegal aliens are ruining national park land and wildlife preserves. Parks and lands nearest to our southern border are the ones most at risk.

According to the Washington Times:

Every year, hundreds of thousands of illegal border-crossers pass through our national parks and wildlife refuges on their way to the interior to secure unlawful work or to smuggle in people and drugs. The trash, waste and discarded vehicles brought in by these thousands of individuals is so large federal land management agencies have admitted it has altered the ecological processes and degraded habitats in these areas. Newly confirmed Secretary for the Interior Ryan Zinke has a chance to change this and make great again our nation’s worst effected parklands. 

Federal statutes like the Wilderness Act of 1964 were enacted to ensure that our nation’s most prized national endowments would be off-limits to exploitation and made fully available to the American public. But as the Interior Department’s National Park Service told the Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI), in some of our natural reserves today, like southern Arizona’s Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, nearly half of all trails and sites are completely closed to the public due to high levels of illegal immigration and smuggling activities. In the closed-off areas, even park service staff must be accompanied by their agency’s own special law enforcement, itself a recent development in direct response to the level of dangerous illegal alien activity. Internal agency reports show thousands of pounds of drugs being seized in our parks annually sometimes trafficked in with “cloned agency trucks.” And according to the Justice Department, this is all due to the region’s “largely unprotected border.”

We can thank the lack of border enforcement by the Obama Administration for this calamity. Had Hillary Clinton been elected instead of Donald Trump, we would likely have had more of the same during the next four years.

Ex-Leader of Mexico Drug Cartel Killed By Gunman In Clown Costume

When I first saw this story, for some reason it reminded me of the 1983 James Bond movie (starring Roger Moore), Octopussy.

Fox News posted:

LOS CABOS, Mexico –  Francisco Rafael Arellano Felix, the eldest brother of Mexico's once-feared Arellano Felix drug clan, was shot to death in the Baja beach resort of Los Cabos by a gunman wearing a clown costume, authorities said Saturday. 

A photo from the scene showed his body sprawled on the tiled floor of the open-sided, beachfront house, covered by a sheet. 

An official of the Baja California Sur state prosecutor's office said Saturday that the killer wore a clown costume complete with a wig and a round red nose. The official was not authorized to be quoted by name.

Maybe MI6 (Her Majesty's Secret Service) is operating in Mexico?
