L.A. Joins War on Rodeos

Last evening, I received an email from Los Angeles City Councilman Bob Blumenfield. Somehow, I got on his mailing list when I lived in Tarzana.

Normally, I don't pay much attention to the emails but this one caught my attention.

It appears that some members of the L.A. City Council have joined the war against rodeos. He cites 35  fatalities of animals over a two decade period (that's twenty years, folks) during rodeo performances. He thinks some were due to animal abuse. In almost every sport, injuries and fatalities do happen. 

I've been to many rodeos here in New Mexico and all of the organizers and participants bend over backwards to ensure animal and human safety. They all begin with a prayer for a safe event.

On Wednesday, a key City Council committee took a big step toward making our city more humane toward animals. The Personnel Audits and Animal Welfare Committee unanimously supported my proposed ordinance banning electrocution devices, flank straps and other tools of torture at rodeos. Following similar laws in cities including Pasadena, Irvine, Chino Hills, and Pittsburgh (where it passed 30 years ago), this will put our city on the record- if entertainment requires animal abuse, it has no place in Los Angeles. 

As the LA Times reported this week, in California over the past two decades in 35 of the injury reports, the animal died immediately or within minutes of the accident, or had to be euthanized — or in one case, slaughtered — in the following hours or days. And 28 of those animals died while performing. Twelve horses died in bronco riding events — rodeo performances in which a flank strap is cinched around a horse’s waist to make it buck. Riders try to stay atop the bucking horse for several seconds. One of these horses ran headfirst into a pole and died almost immediately; another went full speed into a metal gate and broke its neck. Others had their legs break underneath them as they bucked.

The details are horrifying and it is believed that these statistics represent a severe undercount. 

One of the big annual rodeos for the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) happens in the heart of Downtown LA with regular usage of these harmful devices. Their lobbyists have been pushing the narrative that this law would have an impact on our robust, local equestrian community- this simply is not true. I have spoken extensively with our City Attorney and his team has made it abundantly clear that this law is about rodeos, and that is it. It won't impact recreational riders, the upcoming Olympics or anything of the sort.

While my legislation passed this critical hurdle, it still has to come to the full City Council for a vote- most likely in the new session this January. Gabbard made the endorsement just days after announcing her departure from the Democratic Party and praised the Trump-backed candidate for her stance on border security, energy and public safety. Gabbard participated as a featured guest speaker at an Arizona Young Republicans event on Monday in support of Lake’s campaign.

Searchlight New Mexico Not So "Nonpartisan"

Yesterday, I received an email from John Block of the Piñon Post on the battle against Critical Race Theory (CRT) in New Mexico.

One part of the email caught my attention.

Here's the passage:

Whether it be battling the racist Critical Race Theory lies or exposing Democrat corruption, the Piñon Post is your trusted source for conservative news and opinion.   Recently, a far-left blog called “Searchlight New Mexico” posted an article that the leftist USA Today network papers in the state picked up called, “Conservatives are fighting educational reforms with a war cry: ‘It’s CRT!’” The post tried to cancel us for our relentless fight against CRT racism, writing, “The right-wing Piñon Post, whose pro-Trump founder was at the Capitol during the Jan. 6 insurrection, published multiple anti-CRT screeds.”

Like I always say, when the Radical Democrats know they’ve lost an argument, their knee-jerk reaction is to paint us as “insurrectionists,” “racists,” and other types of desperate names.

I have never heard of Searchlight New Mexico until now, so I Googled it and went over to take a look.

In their "About" page, they have the following posted:

If Searchlight New Mexico is so "nonpartisan", why are they stating that the "pro-Trump founder was at the Jan. 6 insurrection"? Do they think this negates his stand against the racist Critical Race Theory? It looks like the old "if you have no valid rebuttal argument, attack the source" thing. John Block was in Washington that day and marched, but he didn't go inside the Capitol or was ever arrested. 

"Screeds"? Note how they slipped that one in. Another attack.

Contrary to what the left-wing Democrats are trying to portray the January 6, 2021 matter, it was a protest that got out of hand, not an insurrection. This meme is hilariously so since the Capitol Police ushered protesters into the Capitol.

While preparing their article on the CRT battle, did Searchlight New Mexico even bother to talk to John Block? If not, that's hardly "investigative reporting".

So much for their "non-partisan" bullshit. Perhaps if we do some background checking of their staff, we just might get some interesting revelations.

Email Confirms Biden Filled Kabul Planes With Unvetted Afghans

As sure as the sun rises, things continue to get worse daily when in the hands of His Fraudulency Joe Biden.

Afghans evacuated in August numbered around 100,000. That's not the problem. The problem is, none were vetted before getting into the evacuation planes.

From The Gateway Pundit:

In August Joe Biden turned over Afghanistan to the Taliban terrorists and armed them with $80 billion in US weapons. It was the greatest transfer of weapons to an enemy force in history.

At the same time, 13 American servicemen and women were murdered by a terrorist after Biden put US troops in an impossible situation with an impossible mission. The Biden regime and international teams evacuated over 100,000 Afghans from Kabul before the US military fled Kabul. Thousands of Americans and green card holders still remain in Afghanistan to this day.

According to our report from military sources on the ground at the time, Joe Biden was not vetting any of the Afghans who were fleeing the country. 

According to US Marines on the ground in Kabul at the time of departure, via Caz from The Raid Team Co., the military was not even checking the names of Afghans they were loading into planes out of Afghanistan.

US Marines on the ground at the time said the Biden regime only wanted the numbers for propaganda purposes and did not vet the Afghans flying out of Kabul.

Daniel Craig Appointed Honorary Royal Navy Commander

Actor Daniel Craig, who is vacating his role of James Bond following the completion (and soon to be released) of No Time To Die, has been appointed honorary Commander of the Royal Navy.

According to 007.com:

Daniel Craig has been made an honorary Commander in the Royal Navy. Commander Craig’s appointment as an honorary officer reflects his personal support for HM Armed Forces and links it with the legacy created through the guise of fictional British secret agent James Bond.

Honorary officers in the Royal Navy bring a breadth of experience and contribute in their own distinct way to strengthen the navy’s ties with the communities it serves. Commander Craig is keen to support personnel with the Royal Navy, with a particular interest in service families.

Commander Craig said: “I am truly privileged and honoured to be appointed the rank of Honorary Commander in the senior service.”

The rank matches that of James Bond in the films and the announcement comes ahead of the premiere of the newest Bond instalment No Time To Die. Filmmakers worked closely with the Royal Navy and Ministry of Defence in the production of the latest film in the franchise.
