Which Coins Contain The Most Silver?

Above, a 2023 American Silver Eagle. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Gold and silver have been "on a tear" in their respective spot prices during these past few months.

Silver is a lot more affordable to the average American citizen. Before investing, one should look into which coins contain the most silver content. American Silver Eagles contain exactly one troy ounce of .999 fine silver.

CBS News posted an article on this question.

They begin it with:

When precious metals hit new price milestones, investor attention tends to focus on the headline-grabbers. Right now, that's gold, as the price of gold has been on a swift uphill climb over the past few months. In turn, it has hit surprising new thresholds — including a brief stint above $5,600 per ounce — and is now hovering at about $5,166 per ounce. But the price of silver has been on a tear of its own, making it a good option for investors who want exposure to precious metals without tying up quite as much capital in a single purchase.

And that's where certain types of silver coins, in particular, can offer big value to investors, especially in today's market. These small silver assets are tangible, widely recognized and come in sizes that feel manageable to a wide range of investors. You can buy one silver coin at a time, build a stack gradually or choose larger-format pieces if you're comfortable moving more money per purchase. In a precious metals market where prices can swing quickly and dramatically, flexibility matters.

Is Silver Investing Too Risky In Retirement?

Above, a 1921 Morgan Silver Dollar (AU) reverse. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Investing one's money in stocks, bonds, treasury bills, CDs and other things is prudent if one is retired or are about to retire.

What about silver investing for retirees? Is it too risky?

CBS News has posted an article on the pros and cons of investing in silver by experts for retirees.

They begin with:Silver saw a pretty big run-up in 2025, and that price trajectory continued into 2026, with the price of silver even surpassing prior records and climbing past the $100-per-ounce mark. However, prices have moderated a bit recently, leaving precious metal investors wondering if silver is still a smart investment.

And, for retirees or seniors nearing retirement, the silver's ups and downs in price may be even more concerning, as there's rarely room in people's retirement budgets for copious amounts of volatility. That begs the question of whether silver is just too risky a bet in retirement these days.

Timing, goals and your overall portfolio all play a role in the answer to that question, but there are important factors to consider before buying silver once your working days are up. Here's what experts say you should think about before buying silver in retirement.

Top Trends For Silver In 2026

Above, an uncirculated 1890 Morgan silver dollar. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Silver's spot price is now around $62 per troy ounce.

This is great news for those of us who bought silver coins and bullion when it was much lower. I am one of those.

What is silver going to trade in 2026? Investing News Network posted their forecast for the metal for the coming year.

It begins with:

The silver price reached heights not seen in more than 40 years in 2025, posting new all-time highs in the fourth quarter amid a supply deficit, expanding industrial use and rising safe-haven demand.

The white metal reached its highest point for the year in mid-December, breaking through US$64 per ounce following an interest rate cut from the US Federal Reserve. With investors looking for non-interest bearing assets in which to store and grow their wealth, the world’s metals exchanges are having a hard time keeping their silver inventories stocked.

What will 2026 hold for silver? As the new year approaches, investors are closely watching how changes in monetary policy and global uncertainty could impact the precious metal, along with supply and demand trends in the space.

Silver Follows Gold's All-Time Highs

Above, a 1928 Peace silver dollar. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

As this blog post is being written, silver's spot price is at $36.255/toz according to COMEX.

But, as a new article by Numismatic News states, it did reach $37. Will silver hit $50?

Numismatic News begins with:

Up, up, and away is not really an appropriate description for the bullion coin market, but due to significant appreciation in not only the spot price of gold but also silver, the dynamics of much of the market are positive. Gold has been on a tear for some time, the spot price reaching new all-time records and then backing off only modestly.

This has kept the price of Gold American Eagles, gold commemoratives, and common-date and common-condition pre-1933 circulation strike gold coins at levels not previously seen. Dealers report this to be an excellent buying opportunity for them, but retail sales have not kept pace, as many institutional buyers and individuals who normally buy on a regular level are challenged to continue at these price levels.

Silver did not perform as well until recently.

Now Kitco’s Jim Wyckoff’s recent comment that “silver appears to be a value buying opportunity” appears to be prophetic. As this market commentary is being written, silver is above the $37 an ounce level and appears to be ready to challenge the $40 resistance level soon. The record price of $50.36 set in January 1980 is still a far reach, or is it?

Is Silver The Next Big Play?

Above, 2023 King Charles III silver Britannias. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Those of us who invested in silver while its spot price was still in the $20s are in a good position to gain if the metal starts catching up with gold.

Newsmax posted an opinion article asking, "Is Silver The Next Big Play?"

It begins with:

Gold may be grabbing the headlines, but it’s silver that’s quietly setting up for a potentially explosive move. And history says it might be just around the corner.

Gold’s rally this year has been nothing short of historic. In just two weeks, prices jumped from $2,960 to $3,500 an ounce, a sharp reminder that when global uncertainty strikes, gold remains the ultimate safe haven. Over the past 12 months, gold is up 41% — a clear signal that investors are seeking shelter from inflation, geopolitical volatility, and mounting debt.1

But here’s what most investors are missing: silver hasn’t kept pace, yet.

Over that same period, silver has gained just 23%. That’s still better than the S&P 500’s modest 6% return, but the gold-to-silver price gap has widened dramatically. And whenever that happens, silver tends to play catch-up, fast.2

How fast can silver hit $50 and $3,500 for gold?

Above, silver Franklin half dollars. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

These are interesting times, economically.

One of the more interesting things going on currently is the rise in gold and silver spot prices. This is begging the question: How fast can silver hit $50 and $3,500 for gold?

That is the topic of an article in Kitco News.

It begins with:

Silver finally closed above $35, and the double top formed on the charts from last October and mid-March. But the question remains: Is this just another setup for disappointment, and when will it hit $50? The last time Silver hit that milestone was April 25, 2011, while Gold continues to hit new all-time highs after breaching $3,000 for the first time on March 14, 2025. Gold has everything going for it right now, with uncertainty surrounding US trade policy, US fiscal policy, geopolitics, and a global growth slowdown.

Is Now A Good Time To Invest In Silver?

Above, Franklin silver half dollars. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

For those who wish to diverse their investment portfolios, investing in precious metals is one commodity to invest in.

Gold is one and silver is another.

The question arises, since the economy is going through tough times, is this a good time to invest in silver? Currently, the COMEX spot price for silver is at $31.305/toz.

Moneyweek has posted an article to answer that question.

They begin it with:

Alongside bonds, one way of diversifying a portfolio away from equities is through commodities. Gold has enjoyed a strong year, but there are reasons why now could be a good time to invest in silver.

Silver prices have increased slightly over 19.9% in dollar terms over the past 12 months, and 20.3% in sterling terms. Silver lags gold during this period, but given that gold and silver prices have historically been compared in order to assess the investment appeal of either, this arguably strengthens the case for investing in silver.

Silver Spot Price Above $32/toz

The silver COMEX spot price is holding on above $32.00/toz in today's trading.

This is good for those of us who bought silver coins and bullion while the metal was still trading in the low and mid $20s.

At present, this is where silver is at:

Silver Spot Price In The 30s

The COMEX spot price for silver is now in the low 30s. The precious metal has been trending upwards for the past few weeks.

Interestingly, the death of Iran's president and foreign minister seems to have carried gold and copper to record highs. Those metals are Iran's top exports.

According to SchiffGold:

Amid ongoing tension in the Middle East, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and the foreign minister have been confirmed dead Monday after a helicopter crash. The officials’ shocking demise casts additional investor doubt on a region already plagued by economic upheaval, with supply chain uncertainties fueling record-high metal prices this week.

Here's the current COMEX spot price for silver:

5 Reasons To Invest In Silver Bars and Coins

Above, 2024 American Silver Eagles. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Despite the gaslighting news media and His Fraudulency Joe Biden say, the economy is not in great shape.

There is a way to hedge one's finances against inflation. That's buying silver.

At least that is what CBS News is saying in a new article.

They begin with:

Investors are facing a fair share of economic challenges right now, including persistent inflation and the high interest rates meant to temper it. And, there are other factors, like geopolitical conflicts and ballooning government deficits, that are further impacting the economy and the investing landscape.

Today's unusual economic climate has, in turn, led many investors to look for ways to diversify their portfolios to protect their wealth and portfolio returns. One of the best ways to do that is to invest in safe-haven assets, like precious metals, to help offset losses from other investments.

While gold historically takes center stage in terms of precious metal investing, silver can also offer a unique value proposition. That's because, like gold, silver has long been a hedge against economic turmoil — and there are other good reasons to consider adding it to your portfolio today, too.

Kiyosaki: Federal Reserve "A Criminal Organization"

For those of us who follow investing and monetary policy, the following is something that is not really new. Someone with balls enough saying so out loud is a bit new.

From CoinGape:

Renowned investor and author Robert Kiyosaki has sparked controversy with his recent declaration that the Federal Reserve is a “criminal organization.” Expressing strong criticism, Kiyosaki noted that trusting Bitcoin (BTC), gold, and silver is better than having faith in the Fed.

Robert Kiyosaki Slams The Federal Reserve

Kiyosaki holds the Federal Reserve responsible for economic turmoil. In a bold statement, the ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad’ author criticized the Fed for fostering wealth inequality. Moreover, he emphasized that the Fed is accountable for impoverishing the middle and lower classes and favoring wealthy banking elites through its policies.

Furthermore, Kiyosaki urged the public to scrutinize the actions of the Federal Reserve rather than blindly following its directives. In addition, he expressed support for alternative stores of value such as gold, silver, and Bitcoin. He has repeatedly emphasized the reliability of these assets, especially Bitcoin compared to traditional fiat currencies controlled by central banks.

Silver Slightly Over $24.00/toz

Silver's spot price (at this writing) is slighly above $24.00/toz this morning.

Presumably, this is due to the weakness of the U.S. dollar.

Whether silver can climb even higher or drop back below $24.00/toz remains to be seen.

Silver Over $24.00/toz

Silver has climbed to its highest point since September 1, according to an article in CoinNews.

At this writing, silver's spot price at COMEX is at $24.14/toz.

CoinNews wrote:

Advancing for the sixth time in seven sessions, silver for December increased by 39.5 cents, or 1.7%, closing at $23.933 an ounce. This settlement marked the highest level since Sept. 1. Silver futures ranged from $23.35 to $24.17. They gained 1.8% on Wednesday, they jumped by 3.5% on Tuesday, and they posted a 0.4% increase on Monday.

And,

"Gold and silver prices are solidly higher in midday U.S. trading Thursday… The precious metals bulls are getting fuel from this week’s tamer U.S. inflation data that sunk the U.S. dollar index and also has the marketplace thinking about a Federal Reserve interest rate cut in the spring," Jim Wyckoff, a senior analyst at Kitco Inc, said in a daily research note.

Silver Up Almost 1.5%

Silver's spot price jumped nearly 1.5% this morning.

Some are reporting that this was in reaction to a "softer than expected" inflation report. In any case, silver is now hovering around $23.50/toz this morning.

Silver Down Over 2%

Silver's COMEX spot price took a bit of a nosedive this morning, losing 2.34% in early trading.

I am not concerned as it will surely go back up again.

Silver Ends Week Below $22.00/toz

Silver's spot price is below $22.00/toz, but according to Coin News, it is up a bit.

They wrote:

Elsewhere, silver for December delivery jumped by 70.4 cents, or 3.4%, to finish at $21.723 an ounce. Silver prices registered a 3.2% weekly decline after having sunk 5.9% last week. The last time they gained in a week was by 2% in the one ending Sept. 22. On Thursday, silver closed at its lowest point since March 16. Year to date, they have fallen by 9.6%.

According to COMEX, here's where silver stands today:

As you can see, silver even went below $21.00/toz at one point.

Silver Down To $22.73/toz

Some folks in the precious metals industry have predicted that silver will reach $100/toz this year.

Thus far, I haven't seen any such inclination. Silver has been struggling to even maintain a $25/toz spot price. I don't even see it even reaching $30/toz.

According to a Kitco News article from yesterday:

(Kitco News) - Gold and silver prices are slightly weaker in early U.S. trading Friday and have lost modest overnight gains following a mildly hotter-than-expected U.S. inflation report. December gold was last down $0.80 at $1,948.00 and September silver was down $0.086 at $22.73.

The just-released U.S. producer price index for July came in at up 0.3% from June. The PPI was seen coming in at up 0.2% from June and compares to a revised 0.0% reading in the June report. The core PPI, excluding food and energy, rose 0.3%, compared to a forecast rise of 0.2%. Today’s PPI report falls mildly into the camp of the U.S. monetary policy hawks.

The low price of silver doesn't concern me. I just see it as an opportunity to buy more of it for less.
