In Gallup

Yesterday was somewhat busy.

In the morning, I had the new dishwasher installed. The old one started acting up. It wouldn't run for six days. On the day the new one was to be delivered, the old one started working again. I decided to replace it anyway as it could be a sign it was about to totally fail.

In the afternoon, I took Larry Lucier to his physical therapy session in Gallup. While he was doing that, I headed over for a latte at Gallup Coffee Company in the historic district. After I finished my latte, I headed over to the El Rancho Hotel and relaxed by their big fireplace in the main lobby.

Once Larry's therapy session was done, we headed to Applebee's for dinner. Their service left much to be desired.

It was a sunny day, but cold out. The wind made it more uncomfortable.

Old Dishwasher Went Kaput

Last weekend, the dishwasher decided to go kaput. I don't know how old it is, but it went completely dead. I have been here seven years.

I immediately ordered a new one after taking the measurements of the opening. It is to be delivered this afternoon. I arranged for its installation with a local plumber that I used before.

Since the new one is to be delivered this afternoon, I'll have to take care of business down at the Flying J in the morning.

Biden's Latest Target: Ceiling Fans

The Looney Left Report

The latest in the Biden Administration's war on home conveniences/appliances has been revealed.

This time it's ceiling fans. I kid you not!

From Fox News:

Ceiling fans are now the latest target in the Biden administration's green agenda, sparking pushback from Republicans and manufacturers.

The Department of Energy is proposing a rule that would require ceiling fans to be more energy efficient, arguing the move would save U.S. households on energy costs.

According to the Energy Department's analysis, the new rules would save households about $39 over the lifespan of the new energy-efficient fan. However, the cost to manufacturers associated with the increased equipment will total $86.6 million per year, the department said.

BIDEN ADMINISTRATION'S WAR ON APPLIANCES IS JUST GETTING STARTED

Republicans on the House Committee on Small Business say that if the rule goes into effect, it could put small manufacturers out of business, given the costs the companies would incur in order to comply with the changes.

What part of "mind your own business" and "leave people alone" do they not understand?

Biden Administration Cracking Down On Water Heaters

First it was gas stoves. Then it was dishwashers, clothes washers, refrigerators, air conditioners and gas furnaces.

Now, they are going after another home appliance: water heaters.

From Fox News:

The Biden administration unveiled a regulatory proposal late Friday targeting water heaters, the latest in a string of energy efficiency actions cracking down on home appliances.

The Department of Energy (DOE) said its proposal would ultimately "accelerate deployment" of electric heat pump water heaters, save Americans billions of dollars and vastly reduce carbon emissions. If finalized, the proposed standards would force less energy efficient, but cheaper, water heaters off the market.

In addition to water heaters, over the last several months, the DOE has unveiled new standards for a wide variety of other appliances including gas stoves, clothes washers, refrigerators and air conditioners. The agency's comment period on a separate dishwasher regulatory proposal concluded Tuesday.

In a few weeks, they will be proposing a ban on light bulbs.
