RVing With Guns (Videos)

For those who RV with firearms or are planning to do so, here's three videos on RVing With Guns by Endless RVing.

Biden Accused of Abuse of Power and Other Offenses

Three House committees issued a report on the activities of His Fraudulency Joe Biden and his family. It states he committed at least two impeachable offenses.

According to the New York Post:

CHICAGO — House Republicans issued a blistering report Monday accusing President Biden of committing at least two offenses that would justify his impeachment — delivering a political black eye to Biden just hours before he speaks on the opening night of the Democratic National Convention.

Republicans launched the investigation last September after evidence surfaced that Biden, 81, repeatedly interacted with his relatives’ foreign business partners during his vice presidency — and following allegations from two IRS investigators of a far-reaching Justice Department coverup.

Biden engaged in “abuse of power” and “obstruction of justice or obstruction of Congress” by corruptly abetting and concealing a $27 million “influence-peddling racket” — which warrant proceedings that could result in his removal from office, the 291-page report by three House committees says.

“Joe Biden has exhibited conduct and taken actions that the Founders sought to guard against in drafting the impeachment provisions in the Constitution: abuse of power, foreign entanglements, corruption, and obstruction of investigations into these matters,” the report says.

“The Committees’ investigative work has revealed that the Biden family — with the full knowledge and cooperation of President Biden — has engaged in a global influence peddling racket from which they made millions of dollars.”

Flight 93 National Memorial

September 11 is less than a month away.

I received an email of the National Park Service's Flight 93 National Memorial near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Here, is the final resting place of the passengers and crew of the hijacked plane on September 11, 2001. This was the plane where passengers fought against the hijackers.

The page includes this video:

Classic Rock Music Monday

The stuff that now passes as "music", particularly rock 'n roll, leaves me cold. So, to start off the week, here's a video of a classic rock artist.

To begin the week, we have the 1969 hit by Motown's group Rare Earth, "Get Ready". I have the full album of the same name on cassette. This is the album version of the song.

From Wikipedia:

Rare Earth is an American rock band from Detroit, Michigan. According to Louder, "Rare Earth's music straddles genres and defies categorisation, slipping seamlessly between the two seemingly disparate worlds of classic rock and R&B." The band was signed to Motown's subsidiary label Rare Earth. Although not the first white band signed to Motown, Rare Earth was the first successful act signed by Motown that consisted only of white members.

Monument Valley After Ridgway?

Above, the East and West Mittens and Merrick Butte. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Next month, I will be heading up to Ridgway, Colorado to help with the John Wayne Cancer Foundation marathon.

Since will be "out and about", I am considering extending the trip to include Monument Valley Tribal Park.

I was last in Monument Valley in October 2022. I enjoyed the visit, which included a sunrise tour of the tribal park. If I go to Monument Valley, I will likely take that tour again. I stayed at Goulding's Lodge Campground.

The weather in September will still be warm. It averages 82° highs and lows averaging 58°.

Above, Ridgway, Colorado to Monument Valley.

The drive from Ridgway, Colorado will entail some mountain road driving. But The Beast can handle it. It is a route that is basically west and then south. The driving time is around four hours.

Since the route will take me on U.S. 163, there is a new KOA Kampground (Monument Valley KOA Journey) on that road I can try out. I read that the campground is five miles from Monument Valley and has great views.

I have a few weeks to decide.

RVs and Hot-Air Balloon Festivals

Above, the Red Rock Balloon Rally near Gallup, New Mexico. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

For those who like to travel in their RVs and experience different events, RV Life has posted an article on hot-air balloon festivals that people can attend with their recreational vehicles.

In New Mexico, the two most prominent ones are the Albuquerque International Balloon Festival and the Red Rock Balloon Rally (near Gallup). I have attended the Red Rock Balloon Rally twice as it is only ten miles away (as the crow flies) from home. The ascension area is right next to a campground with hook-ups.

There are others that merit a visit and RV Life has listed the 10 most amazing ones.

They begin with:

At this point, our family has visited a lot of places and attended a lot of events. One of our favorite things we’ve ever visited as full-time RVers? The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta! This event is absolutely magical and we will never forget the feeling of waking up to hot-air balloons flying directly overhead during this most amazing of hot-air balloon festivals.

We loved this experience so much that I have started making a list of balloon festivals to attend around the country. Here are my top picks as of right now. They are listed in chronological order through the next calendar year, so plan your ultimate balloon festival trip with RV Trip Wizard today!

Section of U.S. 395 To Shut Down 15 Days In September

Above, The Beast at Manzanar Internment Camp in July 2016. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

The last time I drove U.S. 395 in California's eastern Sierra Nevadas was back in 2016. During that trip, I visited the Japanese internment camp Manzanar, stayed in Bishop and Mammoth Lakes and drove into Yosemite National Park on Tioga Road.

Those planning to drive U.S. 395 next month will find a part of it closed.

RV Travel reported:

Planning a trip along California’s eastern Sierra Nevada? Check your calendar and your routing. A beautiful section of U.S. Highway 395 in California will shut down for more than two weeks in an effort to protect wildlife.

California dubs the stretch of U.S. 395 as the Eastern Sierra Scenic Byway, and folks traveling it from the south will find it shut down on September 4 for 15 days. If coming from that direction you will need an alternate route to access the communities of Walker and Colville or to fish and camp at Topaz Lake.

Northbound motorists can take Highway 182 from Bridgeport and connect with lonely Nevada Route 338.

America Under Biden-Harris

Wall Street Apes posted this on X:

Donald Trump just posted this on Truth Social Make sure everyone knows this is Kamala Harris’ economy. She is in office RIGHT NOW and has been this whole time. We are living her American Nightmare and drowning in inflation

Flip-Flopping Harris Still Lags Behind Trump

Polls vary, some by very much. One of the more trustworthy presidential polls is by Rasmussen.

Ammoland has posted the latest Rasmussen presidential poll that shows Kamala Harris lagging behind former President Donald Trump.

They wrote:

A new Rasmussen survey released Thursday shows Vice President Kamala Harris still lagging behind former President Donald Trump, despite her efforts to moderate her previous positions on a variety of issues, including a shift away from the proposed “mandatory buyback” of semiautomatic rifles.

According to Rasmussen, a recent national telephone and online survey of likely U.S. voters revealed Trump is ahead of Harris 49-44 percent, with 3 percent saying the would vote for someone else and 2 percent saying they are undecided.

Other polls also posted in the article show some wide disparities between them.

Trump Recruits Tulsi Gabbard For Debate Prep

Former President Donald Trump has made a smart move in recruiting former congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard for prepping for his upcoming debates with Kamala Harris.

According to Fox News (via AOL):

She memorably took down Kamala Harris in a viral debate exchange in 2019 and now former Hawaii congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard has been enlisted by former president Trump to give him some valuable insights ahead of his upcoming debates against the 2024 Democratic nominee.

Gabbard, who ran for president in the 2020 Democratic primary, has been recruited by Trump to help him sharpen his preparation ahead of the debates, Fox News Digital has learned.

The former congresswoman memorably scorched Harris in a 2019 primary debate where she hammered Harris for jailing hundreds of Californians for marijuana violations while she was attorney general, yet bragged about her own use of the drug.

Here's that memorable exchange:

9th Circuit Blocks CA Law Limiting Gun Purchases To One Per Month

Some good news for California gun owners came from, of all places, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.

The law limiting gun purchases to one every 30 days has been blocked.

The Desert Sun reported:

A 9th Circuit Court of Appeals panel has blocked enforcement of a longstanding California law limiting residents to one firearm purchase every 30 days.

In March, a federal district court previously struck down the law as unconstitutional under the Second Amendment, but the government sought and obtained a stay on the ruling from the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals pending further legal review.

But on Thursday, a three-judge panel from the 9th Circuit reversed the stay, barring law enforcement without a court's further order.

RPNM: “Comrade Kamala’s” Communist Economic Proposals

RPNM Statement on “Comrade Kamala’s” Communist Economic Proposals

ALBUQUERQUE, AUGUST 16—Today, Kamala Harris unveiled part of her economic plan to combat inflation, but it reads more like it was written by Stalin, Maduro, or Castro than someone running to be President of the United States.

Most concerning was her proposal to target "price gouging" by implementing price controls—a failed economic policy implemented in socialist and communist countries that has had devastating consequences.

Additionally, Harris blamed corporate greed for national price increases, which numerous economists, including the Federal Reserve, have debunked.

Even the traditionally liberal Washington Post criticized her policy as "communist," saying, "It’s hard to exaggerate how bad this policy is" and warned that "supply and demand would no longer determine prices or profit levels. Far-off Washington bureaucrats would."

The reality is Kamala had three and a half years to improve the economy, and she failed. Why would we trust her to do a better job now?

Under Kamala's watch:

  • The average New Mexican household is paying $1,018 more per month to purchase goods and services than in January 2021.

  • The average New Mexican household is spending $114 more on energy per month and has spent $4,846 more on energy due to inflation since January 2021.

  • The average New Mexican household is spending $131 more on food per month and has spent $3,436 more on food due to inflation since January 2021.

  • The average New Mexican household has spent $28,181 more overall due to inflation since January 2021.

  • Nearly half of Americans consider themselves "broke."

  • Nearly two-thirds of Americans report living paycheck-to-paycheck—up 8 points from last year.

  • 61% of Americans believe the economy is on the wrong track and 60% think the economy is weak.

  • Overall prices are up over 20%, food prices are up over 21%, rent is up 22%, and electricity has skyrocketed 31.7%.

  • Credit card debt is at an all-time high.

  • By 2-to-1, Americans believe they will be better off financially under Trump.

Harris and Walz form the most radical left-wing ticket in history, and the chaos we're experiencing in the economy, at the border, and with crime will only get worse if they are elected.

The following is a statement from Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce:

"Kamala Harris has proposed communist-style price controls that have historically led to food shortages, bread lines, and economic devastation. Kamala spent the past three and a half years approving massive spending bills that led to printing trillions of dollars, driving up inflation and making everything more expensive. Kamala attributed inflated prices to price gouging when the real problem is her and the economy-killing policies she supported as vice president. During President Trump’s administration, inflation was low, energy was affordable, real wages were rising, and the American Dream was more attainable than ever. New Mexicans are going to remember this at the polls in November."

Report: Pelosi Threatened Biden if He Did Not Quit

Many, including former President Donald Trump, have been describing His Fraudulently Joe Biden's withdrawal from the campaign as a "coup d'état" by Democrats. It was led by Nancy Pelosi.

Reports are coming out that's exactly what happened. The Bidens are furious.

Newsmax reported:

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., threatened to go public with her concerns about Joe Biden's candidacy, forcing the president to end his reelection bid, according to a new report.

On July 21, Biden stunningly announced he would end his campaign seeking four more years in the White House. Until then, he had insisted he would remain in the race against former President Donald Trump.

Biden's surprising withdrawal came after Pelosi sent word that she prepared to go public with her concerns that he could not defeat Trump in November, several sources told DailyMail.com.

Radio Station Contemplates Suing Harris Campaign Over Ad

It looks like not everybody in the media is enamored with Kamala Harris or her campaign.

A North Dakota radio station is contemplating suing Harris's campaign over an ad that has headlines implying they are supporting her.

The Washington Times reported:

A radio station is contemplating a lawsuit against Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign over its practice of altering headlines in online ads to make it appear that news outlets are supporting her bid for the White House.

Campaign ethics experts called the ad manipulation strategy “sloppy” and a threat to Ms. Harris’ claims of running an honest operation.

Steve Hallstrom, president and managing partner of Fieldstone Group, which operates WDAY Radio in Fargo, North Dakota, said the Harris campaign “lied to every single person who saw that ad.”

“We have reached out to the Harris campaign and demanded they terminate this ad immediately, and we are considering all options here, including legal action,” he said. “This is not right, and they should not be allowed to get away with this and tarnish our reputation — whether it’s a family-owned North Dakota company like us or a major national news organization.”

Harris To Announce Soviet-Style Price Controls On Food

As one would expect from someone coming out of the Bay Area (i.e., San Francisco) of Commiefornia would propose, Kamala Harris will be announcing Soviet-style centrally administered price controls on food today.

At least, that's according to Breitbart.

They wrote:

Soviet-style centrally administered price controls on food and grocery prices will form part of the federal economic proposals U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris will unveil Friday when she finally delivers an insight into her 2024 policies.

Her address will mark the first time Harris offers a policy focused speech since she was anointed as the Democratic candidate in July and been roundly accused by critics since as being a policy-free zone, as Breitbart News reported.

The Democratic nominee is promising to institute a first-ever national ban on price gouging and price-fixing within her first 100 days in office in an effort to deflect many voters’ low marks for President Joe Biden’s handling of the economy.

Ten Years Since Superman Celebration

Above, the plaque dedication in Tarzana.

Thanks to Brian McKernan for posting the following, this almost slipped by me.

He wrote:

August 15, 2014: Hard to believe it’s been ten years now since I had the honor of being part of the group that gathered at the Beverly Garland Hotel in North Hollywood for a weekend to observe the 100th birthday of Adventures of Superman actor George Reeves and the co-creators of the Superman character, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.
The entire event was organized by Adventures Continue creator Jim Nolt, with help from Armand Vaquer, Jared Copenhaver, and many others. It began with the placing of a commemorative plaque in Tarzana on Saturday, Aug. 16 to mark the 1953 filming of location shots for the television episode “The Man Who Could Read Minds.”
Later that day was a luncheon with VIP speakers including: Laura Siegel Larson, daughter of Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel; Jimmy Olsen actor Jack Larson; series actors Beverly Washburn and Ruta Lee; Stephanie Shayne (daughter of Inspector Henderson actor Robert Shayne); John Hamilton (son of fictional Daily Planet editor actor John Hamilton); Paul Bernbaum, the screenwriter for Hollywoodland (the 2006 movie about George Reeves); John Rockwell, star of the filmed 1961 Superboy pilot; and many others.

Above, Jack Larson addresses the attendees at the plaque dedication. By the Daily News.

The plaque dedication in Tarzana and the luncheon in North Hollywood were well-attended and enjoyable. We even got some press coverage thanks to the Los Angeles Daily News.

Unfortunately, during the past ten years, we have lost a few who attended: Jack Larson, Gene LeBell, Ted Newsom, John Hamilton Jr. (son of Perry White). (If I have missed anyone, feel free to post their names in the comments.)

Since then, the plaque was re-located a few feet from its original spot with better anchoring.

Kamala Harris's Primary Wins

Poll: Most Dem Voters Don’t Know About Harris’s Radicalism

A poll released Wednesday has found that most Democrat and Independent voters are unaware of Kamala Harris's radical positions.

The poll was conducted by the Media Research Center (MRC).

They posted the results and begin with:

A significant new Media Research Center poll finds that large majorities of registered Democrats and Independents who voted for Joe Biden in 2020 — exactly those who would be expected to support Vice President Kamala Harris in this year’s contest — are mostly in the dark about many of the controversial and radical positions Harris has taken.

Here are the results:

  • Harris would consider allowing death row inmates to vote (86% unaware —14% aware)
  • Harris supported the elimination of private healthcare (81% unaware —19% aware)
  • Harris promoted a fund to bail out violent protesters during 2020 riots (78% unaware — 22% aware)
  • Harris supported abolishing ICE (77% unaware — 23% aware)
  • Harris was named the most liberal U.S. Senator in 2019 (75% unaware — 25% aware)
  • Harris said it should not be considered a crime to enter the U.S. illegally (74% unaware — 26% aware)

Chile Relleno Casserole

Above, the chile peppers before roasting. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Last year, I made a chile relleno casserole from a recipe posted at a Facebook New Mexico recipe page.

Even though I couldn't Hatch Valley chile pepper then, the ones I used were adequate to the task and the casserole came out delicious.

This year, I was able to get some Hatch Valley chile peppers and made the casserole yesterday afternoon.

I have to say that the casserole came out great, even better than last year's. I first roasted the chile peppers over coals in the barbecue on Monday. That brought out the flavor and made it easier to peel the skin off the peppers.

I have enough left for breakfast and lunch tomorrow.

Here's a look at the casserole:

"Godzilla Minus One" Pre-Orders Available

While I was on vacation in the Bahamas, it was announced that Godzilla Minus One will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray sometime in September. The actual release date is unclear

Retailers are now taking pre-orders for the movie.

It is funny, Delta Airlines had Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire in their in-flight movie offerings. I wasn't interested enough to watch it.

Harris-Walz Attacks On 2nd Amendment, Sportsmen Take Notice

Sportsmen around the country are taking notice of Kamala Harris's horrible record on the Second Amendment.

Hopefully, this will cause them to go to the polls in droves to vote against her on Election Day.

The Record Live posted an article on Harris's record.

It begins with:

As if Kamala Harris' record wasn't already bad enough considering her disaster at the southern border, being voted as "the most liberal Senator in congress" by Gov Track, her history of convicting hundreds on marijuana charges, being a supporter of defunding the police and raising bail money for protesters during the riots in Minnesota and promoting the "woke agenda" she now has added attacking the Second amendment to her resume'. During her past failed attempt at becoming the democratic nominee in 2020 Harris proclaimed "upon being elected, I will give Congress 100 days to get their act together and have the courage to pass reasonable gun safety laws. And if they fail to do it, then I will take executive action". In her first campaign speech since the Democrats ousted Joe Biden during his re-election bid Harris said she "will pass red flag laws, universal background checks, and an assault weapons ban". After hearing this it's no stretch of the imagination to think she won't stop there.

Sportsmen everywhere are paying attention to the huge mainstream media push that's going on right now in order to clean up Harris as a worthy candidate. Most, if not all, of Harris' sub par political past has been re-framed by the media and made out to be a success when in fact that is far from the truth. Having Harris use gun control as one of her talking points to go along with other extreme items on her agenda should be more than enough to generate a strong presence at the ballot box from sportsmen everywhere.

Kamala Harris Voted To Allow IRS To Track Tips

Earlier in this campaign, former President Donald Trump came out with a campaign promise to eliminate taxes on tips.

Now, all of a sudden, Kamala Harris is copying Trump's promise.

We should all take that with the proverbial grain of salt. She was the one who cast the tie-breaking vote on a bill to allow the Internal Revenue Service to track service industry workers' tips.

From Breitbart:

Vice President Kamala Harris — who on Saturday copied a campaign promise first announced by former President Donald Trump to eliminate taxes on tips — voted in 2022 to pass legislation that allowed the IRS to track down workers’ tips so that they could be taxed.

On August 7, 2022, Harris cast the tie-breaking vote to pass the Inflation Reduction Act that provided $80 billion in additional funding to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), which then got to work cracking down on the service industry’s reporting of tips so that they could be taxed.

This is all a bunch of B.S. on her part. She is not to be trusted.

Graycliff Cigar Company of Nassau

While in Nassau, Bahamas, we were on our way back to our cruise ship after our boat and bus tours and along the way were some shops. I found one that sold cigars. So I went inside and bought some from Graycliff Cigar Company.

One was the Graycliff G2 and the other was Graycliff Grand CRU. Both were good, but the G2 cigars impressed me the most. It compares very well with the Oliva Serie G Churchills that I usually get.

Graycliff is a Nassau-based cigar company.

From their website:
Graycliff Cigar Company

The Garzaroli family founded the Graycliff Cigar Company when Enrico Garzaroli fell in love with cigars but was unable to find that “perfect” cigar to complement what Graycliff Hotel and Restaurant has always been known for — excellent cuisine, fine wines and luxurious accommodations.

The Graycliff Cigar Company, beginning production in January 1997 with a single roller in foyer of the Graycliff Restaurant, has now expanded to an award winning boutique Cigar Company with 16 master rollers, each an expert in the art of cigar rolling. The Graycliff Cigar Company produces five brands of cigars: Graycliff, G2, Bahiba, Cabinet Selection by Graycliff and the newly introduced B-Cuz by Graycliff.

Visitors to The Graycliff Cigar Company, in addition to witnessing first-hand skilled torcedores at work, may also take a Cigar Rolling Lesson or a Cigar and Rum pairing session with our expert craftsmen.  Scroll down for more info.

The Graycliff Cigar Company is currently open Daily from 9am to 5:00pm.  Except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

I just placed an order for some of their G2 cigars. It wasn't an easy task as many cigar dealers were sold out and put on backorder.

What Is The Age To Gamble In Las Vegas?

Above, slot machines in Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

During the cruise to the Bahamas, I did some gambling in the Norwegian Sky casino. I played roulette and ended up making $60.

Roulette has been my favorite table game. I first started playing it in Las Vegas at the "ripe old age" of 19. Yes, I was illegally playing as Nevada law stipulated that one must be at least 21 years old to play. Yes, teens do crazy things. I must have looked at least 21 as I was never questioned.

This got me thinking, What is the current age to gamble in Las Vegas?

Well, it is still 21.

According to Casino.com:

Now comes the real question: “How old do you have to be to gamble in Vegas?” Though it is a hedonist destination, there are rules. And like the rest of the United States, the rules dictate that all players must be at least 21 years old in order to play.

Each establishment that offers gambling has to get a license from The Nevada Gaming Commission. Whether it be for a handful of slots or a full-service casino, the same rules apply. Both the Commission and the Nevada Gaming Control Board fully expect license holders to adhere to the regulations and laws that have been put into place to protect the perception and integrity of the gaming industry as a whole.

Failing to adhere to those stringent rules comes with heavy penalties. Like the six-figure-fine kind of penalty. There are even some cases where an establishment can have its license revoked without measures to improve security.

For that reason, casinos and any other establishment that offers gambling is strict about the “21 or older” rule. More importantly, the casinos aren’t the only ones being governed here. Anyone caught trying to play at a casino that is underage faces penalty as well.

In Nevada, anyone gambling in a casino that is under the age of 21 faces a fine of up to $1,000 and a jail sentence of up to 6 months. At the very least, expect to sit in a jail cell for a night and be forced to stare down expensive legal bills.

There are stories of underage gamblers who have won massive jackpots only to be forced to give them up because they were underage. Vegas staff has been trained to spot a fake, which means there is an exceptional chance of getting caught.

Some states have the same 21 years of age laws and some do allow 18-year-olds to gamble. If one is in a state where you must be 21 years old to gamble, it is best not to do it for the reasons stated above.

No Cruise Illness This Time

Above, kicking back in the stateroom.

It has been since Friday that I got home from the cruise to the Bahamas.

Before going further, I will state that it was a good trip and I had a fun time. Now, since I have been home since Friday evening, I have not come down with any trip-related illnesses. This is a first for me.

I have been on three cruises and of the three, I have come down with a bug of some sort during two of them. This is not unusual as about 1,500+ people are crammed into a ship passing along germs to each other.

The cruises where I caught a bug were:

  • Alaska Cruise in 2000: I came down with a 24-hour flu during the cruise.
  • Key West and Cuba Cruise in 2019: I caught a cold towards the end of the cruise.
Norwegian Cruise Lines had hand sanitizers available throughout the ship and a crew member stationed at the Garden Buffet entrances with sanitizer spray bottles to spray people's hands as they entered.

I also tried to avoid touching hand rails and other things on the ship where a bug my lurk.

Being around other people in close spaces is bound to spread germs, but I have to consider myself lucky this time as I didn't catch any.

Hiding Harris

Former President Donald Trump (and many others) have been slamming Kamala Harris for her lack of holding press conferences and dodging interviews since she became (by anointment) the Democrat Party presidential nominee.

It is well known that she has a history of blubbering nonsense in such forums in the past. Which is probably why her handlers are hiding her.

Fox News posted on X:

HIDING HARRIS: Trump slams his Democratic rival in the 2024 race for dodging interviews and press conferences since being named the DNC's presumptive nominee over three weeks ago.

They have also posted an article that begins with:

Former President Donald Trump spoke with tech billionaire Elon Musk in an overarching, lengthy interview Monday evening on X as Vice President Kamala Harris continues avoiding the media since landing on the top of the Democratic ticket for the White House.

"It's pretty sad when you think that somebody that does this for a living can't answer a question or is afraid to do an interview, and in her case, with a very friendly interview. She's got all friendly interviewers," Trump said of Harris Monday evening during his roughly two-hour interview with Musk on X Space.

Trump's comments come as Harris has avoided the media for 22 days. She has snubbed formal press conferences or sit-down interviews, including for a Time magazine cover story, since she emerged as the DNC's nominee for the White House after President Biden dropped out of the race last month.

Chile Pepper Harvest Season

Above, the chile peppers I bought yesterday. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

The New Mexico chile harvest season is now upon us. This year is seeing a good crop.

I bought some Hatch chile peppers yesterday and I will be making the chile relleno casserole on Wednesday that I made last year.

I spent some time this afternoon roasting them on the barbecue. The aroma the roasted peppers are giving off is great. Yum!

This year is a good one for the chile harvest indicators say. It is likely due to the winter snowfall and the monsoon rains we've been getting.

The Los Angeles Times posted:

Though there have been efforts to mechanize the green chile harvest, they haven’t been successful, says Kelly Urig, a native New Mexican who wrote “New Mexico Chiles: History, Legend And Lore,” which explores four centuries of chile agriculture in New Mexico. Chiles can only be mechanically harvested when they turn red; at that stage it’s OK to have some damage to the fruit, she says, due to it being ground down anyway. The red chile season lasts about only a month after the green chile season.

Last year’s harvest was poor, severely affected by a record-breaking heat wave, which, Urig says, made the crop more susceptible to disease.

The outcome of this year’s green chile harvest won’t be clear until fall, but Urig and other industry observers are already predicting a very good year.

“This year is going great,” says Urig, whose family once farmed chile in Hatch and now helps process it. “All signs say this harvest season is going to be a very good crop as far as taste and as far as commercial viability.”

Urig, who now lives in San Diego but has much of her family in New Mexico, says she has a plentiful supply in her freezer but still gets excited when she can get freshly roasted chiles. She often buys from her cousins, who operate the Hatch Chile Store.

Urig urges New Mexico chile lovers to avoid getting duped by pepper counterfeiters and support New Mexico farmers by looking for the “New Mexico certified chile” mark on the chile pepper package.

Tim Walz 'A Political Chameleon' On Gun Control

Above, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, the vice-presidential running mate choice of Kamala Harris, is not to be trusted on the Second Amendment.

At one time, he earned the endorsement by the NRA. Now, he's gone totally Left Wing.

Newsmax reported (some snippets):

Randy Kozuch, chair of the NRA Political Victory Fund, said Gov. Tim Walz "is a political chameleon — changing his positions to further his own personal agenda," referencing Walz's evolving stance on gun control.
