Flying J Building EV Charging Station

The Jamestown, New Mexico Flying J Travel Center is adding an electric vehicle charging station.

The construction is almost done. Unfortunately, we lost many parking spots where they decided to put it.

Here's what it looked like yesterday:

There's a row of EV chargers at a gas station on the trans Canada Highway near my rural property. I can't think that I've ever seen a single vehicle using them. Of course, anybody that buys an EV for use in Manitoba is not dealing with a full deck... maybe if you only use it to go to work and back. The mileage you get from one charge drops drastically in our winter weather.

Exactly! EVs are impractical in New Mexico as there are big distances between towns and cities. Also, it gets quite cold here. It is 19° right now in Gallup. Plus, the Department of Transportation is not very efficient when re-directing traffic around road construction areas. Miles-long traffic jams are not unusual here and if someone is stuck in traffic in very cold temperatures, their batteries will drain rapidly. Not too many people in New Mexico can afford buying an EV anyway.
