Latest Coin Acquisitions

The Jamestown post office had a load of small packages waiting for me today. Two of them were coins I recently ordered.

One is an 1889 Morgan Silver Dollar (BU*) and the other is a 1971 Eisenhower Dollar (the only year that it contained 40% silver content), Uncirculated. I already had one, but found a good deal on another one and got it.

*Brilliant Uncirculated

Ronchetti Endorsed By Trump

Above, former President Donald Trump by Asya.

The New Mexico gubernatorial campaign just got even more interesting. This is in a good way!

Former President Donald Trump has endorsed Mark Ronchetti for governor in a post at Truth Social.

The PiƱon Post reported:

In an early morning Truth Social post Monday, President Donald J. Trump threw his support around New Mexico Republican gubernatorial nominee Mark Ronchetti, who is running against far-left Democrat Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham.

The 45th President said, “New Mexico has an absolutely terrible Governor, Michelle Lujan Grisham. She is WEAK on Crime, bad on the Border where illegal aliens are pouring into our Country at record numbers, & has almost no support from Law Enforcement, which fully understands what a disaster she has been. Also, Drugs & Human Trafficking are OUT OF CONTROL.”

He then praised Ronchetti as an “outstanding” candidate.

Trump wrote, “The good news is that Republican Nominee Mark Ronchetti is outstanding. He will be tough & smart on Crime, the Border & everything else. Mark [has] my Total Endorsement!”

Classic Rock Music Monday

The stuff that now passes as "music", particularly rock 'n roll, leaves me cold. So, to start off the week, here's a video of a classic rock artist.

The recent passing a few days ago of the last remaining member of the famed "Million Dollar Quartet", Jerry Lee Lewis, made it a no-brainer on who would (or should) be this week's Classic Rock Music Monday artist to start the week.

Here he is on the Steve Allen Show in 1957 performing "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On".

Happy Halloween!

Above, Boris Karloff as the Monster in Bride of Frankenstein (1935). Universal Pictures.

From Wikipedia:

Halloween or Hallowe'en (less commonly known as Allhalloween, All Hallows' Eve, or All Saints' Eve) is a celebration observed in many countries on 31 October, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows' Day. It begins the observance of Allhallowtide, the time in the liturgical year dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints (hallows), martyrs, and all the departed.

Will Electric Vehicles Spell Doom For Gas Stations?

The upcoming mid-term elections will be a major factor in whether or not liberal Democrats can be stopped with their bullshit of banning gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles. If they lose big in the upcoming election, their plans could be stopped in their tracks to preserve our lifestyle.

This is why Republicans, and those who want to keep using their vehicles and not be forced to purchase EVs, have to get out and vote those idiots out of office and jettison their "Green New Deal" plans along with them.

RV Travel discusses whether or not electric vehicles will spell doom for gas stations and if we can keep using our RVs, which are huge investments, in the future.

They begin with:

All the buzz about electric vehicles, i.e.,”EVs,” has people talking and speculating about the end of an American institution, the gas station.

RVers can’t help but wonder about the future of their lifestyle as politicians in some states push “Green New Deal” regulations favoring electric vehicles (EVs) and legislation banning gasoline engines.

If gasoline-powered vehicles are banned, what will happen to the gas stations?

It’s a question that would never have crossed the mind of most RVers before California Governor Gavin Newsom issued an Executive Order on September 23, 2020, banning new gasoline engines in the state by 2035. Last week the edict was rubber stamped by the California Air Resources Board, which approved the so-called Advanced Clean Cars II Act. Now, 17 other states have adopted California’s standards under the U.S. federal Clean Air Act (42 U.S.C. §7507).

This is why it is so important for people to get out and vote to stop this insanity. Californians failed to recall Newsom and now are paying the price at the gas pump. The current average price of unleaded regular gasoline is $5.574/gallon.

According to Travel Weekly:

Following a month of dry dock maintenance work, the USS Bowfin has returned to the Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum at Pearl Harbor, and tours will reopen today.

"We are very excited for the return of the USS Bowfin to our campus and look forward to reopening her to the public," said museum executive director Chuck Merkel in a press release.

Flight Cancellations: What To Do

Above, stuck at the Rosemont, Illinois
Motel 6 due to a flight cancellation.

During the past few years, it seemed that air travel had gotten worse with flight delays and cancellations.

With the exceptions of my recent trip to Los Angeles and last year's trip to Dallas/Fort Worth, flying had been a hassle. Generally, the problems arose when I would be trying to get back home rather than heading to the planned destinations.

In those cases, one has to thank God for cell phones with Internet access to reschedule flights when one's flight had been cancelled. Twice, those flights caused me to stay an extra night as the next available flight would be the next day. I ended up getting rooms. This happened to me in 2019 when I was trying to get home from G-FEST and when I was trying to get home last year from Twin Falls. Both were weather-related.

Travel + Leisure has posted an article on what to do if one's flight is cancelled.

They begin with:

Between extraordinarily high demand from passengers, airline staff shortages, and standard summer weather delays, flights have been delayed or canceled left and right. And while any unexpected schedule changes makes flying a hassle, it shouldn't completely discourage you from traveling.

From rebooking to hopefully getting a refund, travel expert, Scott Keyes, the founder of Scott's Cheap Flights, shared his tips and insight with Travel + Leisure for navigating these hectic times in air travel.

The Weird Attack on Paul Pelosi

Above, Paul Pelosi.

The story on the attack on Paul Pelosi is getting more curious by the hour it seems.

The attack was bad enough, but there's much to the story that the drive-by media isn't saying.

Dinesh D'Souza posted on [the now free] Twitter:

Paul Pelosi KNEW his attacker and NAMED him in his 911 call. Media accounts are suppressing this key fact. Listen to the call and you can verify it for yourself. We are not—I repeat not—getting the full story on this.
It’s one thing for Paul Pelosi to be in his underwear. It’s his own home and it was very early on the morning. The remarkable thing is his assailant was also in HIS underwear. What does that tell you that the media isn’t telling you?
Where did they BOTH get their hammers?

As Artie Johnson used to say on Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In: Verrry Interesting!

Governor-To-Be At The Flying J

Above, Mark Ronchetti making a purchase at the Flying J. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Following out usual Saturday morning coffee/breakfast at Denny's in the Jamestown Flying J, I was heading over to the post office to check my mailbox when I ran into GOP gubernatorial nominee Mark Ronchetti.

He was in line with his daughter at the checkout counter.

I walked up to him and said, "I know you! I have one of your signs in my front yard!" He gave me a big grin and thanked me. I told him, "Good luck!" and shook his hand before I was headed to the post office.

He had concluded a campaign event in Grants a little earlier this morning.

UPDATE (10/30/22):

After leaving the Flying J, Ronchetti attended campaign events in Gallup and Farmington. Those events were well-attended, judging from the photos of them posted on Twitter. Those events and the one earlier in Grants were part of his #RonchettiOnTheRoad RV Tour.

Jerry Lee Lewis, R.I.P.

at the Sun Studio soda fountain in Memphis, Tennessee. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

The last member of the "Million Dollar Quartet" at Sun Records died yesterday.

Jerry Lee Lewis had a controversial life but managed to rise in esteem in his later years.

WREG in Memphis reported:

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Jerry Lee Lewis, the last surviving member of the Million-Dollar Quartet at Sun Studio, has passed away at the age of 87, his publicist confirmed Friday.

The music world is mourning the loss of a Mid-South man being called one of the greatest entertainers and piano players ever. For decades, Jerry Lee Lewis was known to fans simply as The Killer for his songs and the way he rattled the ivory. It was a musical ability that he knew was a gift.

Friends and fans say nobody played the piano like Jerry Lee. Even as a kid, his piano teacher found that out the hard way when Jerry Lee gave him a lesson on how music should be played.

His music would take him from his home in Louisiana to Memphis to record at Sam Phillip’s Sun Studio. This was the place where Jerry Lee would make records and history with one hit song after another. His first big hit was called “Crazy Arms.”

Later, as a part of the Million-Dollar Quartet at Sun Studio along with Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and Carl Perkins, he turned vinyl records into gold.

RV Parks Are No Place For Political Banners...Are They?

RV parks are no place for political banners...are they?

That is the question posed by RV Travel to their readers. First off, this is a free country and it is sad that the question even has to be asked.

I've seen many political signs and banners over the years at campgrounds or RV parks. Even if the sign or banner is in opposition of my own political beliefs, I feel they have every right to express their opinion. I should be accorded the same from them. I have flown political banners at my campsite myself.

The article begins with:

Everyone knows the mid-term elections are near. By now, most voters have made up their minds about who they’ll vote for and why. In fact, many folks may have already voted. Knowing that we’d be away on Voting Day, my husband and I were happy that in Missouri we were able to vote early. (More about voting from your RV here.) With all of that in mind, it was kind of a surprise to see so many political flags and signs in our most recent RV park. We talked about it around the campfire: Should political banners and signs be in RV parks?

The Federalist Blog: Marilyn Monroe

Gary at The Federalist blog posted his usual Saturday Sultress a couple of hours ago.

Today's Saturday Sultress is Norma Jean Baker, better known as Marilyn Monroe. Seeing that post, it reminded me of the Hollywood Dearly Departed tour my daughter and I took in 2015.

One of the stops on the tour was the Westwood Cemetery. Many celebrities are buried there besides Monroe, including Jack Lemmon, Walter, Matthau, Rodney Dangerfield, Carl Wilson, Dean Martin, Merv Griffin, Farrah Fawcett, Carroll O'Connor, Peter Falk, Louis Jourdan, Burt Lancaster, Armand Hammer, Dorothy Stratten and others.

Below is Marilyn Monroe's crypt:

RV Parking Overnight At Truck Stop Rules

Above, the Jamestown, New Mexico Flying J. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Since I bought my motorhome seven years ago, I only attempted to overnight at a truck stop once. That was in Missouri and I left because it was too noisy. I ended up overnighting at a rest area. That was much quieter.

That truck stop didn't have a separate area for overnighting RVs. The Flying J in Jamestown, New Mexico does have a separate area for RVs.

There are some rules RVers should follow when staying at a truck stop. They are unwritten, but common sense stipulates they should be followed anyway for an uneventful night's sleep.

RV Lifestyle posted them and they begin with:

There are often heated debates between truckers and RVers on whether it’s okay to park RVs overnight at truck stops. Technically, yes, it is okay, but only if you follow these unwritten rules.

Because let me tell you, these rules may be unwritten but an angry truck driver will be more than willing to shout them at you. Or worse, show you.

I’ve heard how truckers have taken out RV slides or parked scarily close to RVs to prove their point. I’ve also heard about plenty of angry threats, too.

So, as a longtime boondocker who has stayed overnight at truck stops, I will share my advice with you. The key is respect!

Keeping RV Cabinet Doors From Spilling Things

Above, a cabinet safety catch in my motorhome. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

As the following article from Do It Yourself RV states, there's a lot of shaking going on while one's RV is on the road.

All this shaking, especially on rough roads, can cause cabinet doors to pop open and shifting contents inside the cabinet can fall out and possibly bean someone who is sitting below.

I installed some plastic cabinet safety catches to three of my cabinets and they have worked well. None of the cabinet doors have popped open and spill anything. They were easy to install. I also have some spring-tension cabinet bars in other cabinets.

There are several ways to keep things from moving inside the cabinet and Do It Yourself RV shows what they are.

They begin with:

There’s a whole lot of shaking going on! In your RV cabinets, that is. Whether your rig is cruising down the highway or bumping down the gravel road to the campground, every little bump on the road leads to earthquake-level seismic activity inside your RV.

No wonder things sometimes fall out of RV cabinets when we travel. This can create an annoying mess to clean up before getting settled into the campsite. Who’s got time for that?

We’re here to help you! In this article, we’ll show you three different ways you can keep things from falling out of your RV cabinets. Not handy? Don’t worry, we’ve got your back. None of these awesome methods of corralling your stuff requires skills or even tools.

Biden Coming to New Mexico

Democrats in New Mexico are getting desperate.

With Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham behind Mark Ronchetti in the latest Trafalgar Group poll, they need His Fraudulency Joe Biden to come to the rescue.

KOAT reported:

WASHINGTON — The White House has announced that President Joe Biden will be traveling to New Mexico on Nov. 3.

The White House says the president will be meeting with New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and other state and local leaders. The trip comes just a few days before Election Day.

This will be the second visit by the president this year.

Her Fraudulency Kamala Harris was in New Mexico a few days ago.

I seriously doubt that Biden will do Lujan Grisham any good.

Carole Lombard Crash Site

Above, Clark Gable and Carole Lombard.

Back in January 2015, bought the book, Fireball: Carole Lombard and the Mystery of Flight 3 by Robert Marzan. It was the story of the January 16, 1942 crash of TWA Flight 3 into Mount Potosi after taking off from McCarran Field in Las Vegas killing actress Carole Lombard, her mother, Clark Gable's assistant Otto Winkler (Gable was married to Lombard at the time) and 21 others.

When the DC-3 crashed, the fireball from Mount Potosi was seen 40 miles away.

A few months later, I was in Las Vegas and on the way home on Interstate 15, I took several photos of Mount Potosi from the side of the interstate.

I was reading the book this evening and then took a look at the photos of the peak that I took. Using photos from the book and other photos online as references, I pinpointed the crash site on the silhouette of the mountain. I circled the location on one of my photos and it is below.

Above, the crash site of TWA Flight 3 is at the circle on Mount Potosi. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

The DC-3 is still at the crash site and, occasionally, hikers still find pieces of human remains. Lombard's wedding ring has never been found. Her body was found with her left arm missing. Gable did offer a reward to anyone who finds the ring.

An expanded edition of Marzan's book was published in 2017, which I also bought.

70-Year-Old Vehicles

Hagerty Drivers Club sent an email featuring a 1952 GMC Suburban Ambulance. The email asked,

Low-mileage 1952 Suburban ambulance is begging to be resuscitated

Does this low-mileage, 70-year-old GMC workhorse deserve a new lease on life?

After reading that, it dawned on me that my 1952 Willys Jeep M38A1 is also 70 years old. I hadn't thought of that in those terms. Interesting!

Above, yours truly with the Jeep. Photo by Nandoh Munoz.

But, to answer the question: Yes, they should restore the old ambulance.

Cold Weather = Gun Cleaning

Since it is 34° outside (too cold for Jeep driving), I figured that it was time to do some gun cleaning and oiling.

Since I did the rifles a few weeks ago, got out some of my pistols for their cleaning and oiling. I have others, but I decided to start off with these.

Above, the first for cleaning and oiling was the Ruger P95 9mm. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Above, next was my old Rossi .38 Special that I keep loaded with snake shot. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Above, lastly, was my dad's old Jennings J-22 .22 pocket pistol. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

While working on the Jennings .22, I remembered a time my dad was with me (I was driving) and heading to my Tarzana apartment and some Bozo down the block got upset over something (as it was over 20 years ago, I don't remember what) and got into a fit of road rage while we were waiting for my gate to open.

While the dude was busy raging at my window, my dad was prepared with the Jennings, in case he tried something. I was unaware of this until after the dude took off. Ah, memories!

I love the smell of Hoppe's No. 9 in the morning. Smells of...freedom!

"Slight" Chance of Snow Showers This Morning

Above, a visitor at the cat food yesterday. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

This was unexpected!

We have a "slight chance" of snow showers this morning in Jamestown, New Mexico. It is currently 35° outside, but that could change.

It is not going to be a warm day either.

According to the National Weather Service:

Today
A slight chance of snow showers between 9am and noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 43. Breezy, with a northwest wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 20 to 25 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

NRA Super-PAC To Spend $1.1 Million On Senate Races

This election is pivotal to the future of this country. It will determine if we go on the road to socialism or the road to freedom.

The National Rifle Association's political action committee plans to spend $1.1 million on battleground senate races in several states.

From The Reload:

The nation’s largest gun-rights group is stepping up its campaign ad spending less than two weeks before the midterm elections.

The NRA’s Super PAC is planning over $1.1 million in digital ad spending across multiple battleground states in the coming days, according to its latest Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings. The ads, set to release on Thursday, are slated to run in support of the Republican Senate candidates in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Nevada, North Carolina, Georgia, and Arizona.

Rush Limbaugh's Widow Confirms Death Certificate Rumor

Above, Rush Limbaugh receiving the Medal of Freedom in January 2020. White House photo.

The late talk show host Rush Limbaugh gave the media one last tweak after his passing on February 17, 2021.

It was something that apparently was rumored (I hadn't heard of it) for a while. His widow, Kathryn, confirmed it with Glenn Beck.

According to the Western Journal:

Rush Limbaugh, the late king of talk radio, had one final tweak for the left-wing media that hated him so much, and it’s something he just knew his fans would love.

Kathryn Adams Limbaugh, the widow of the conservative talk radio legend, recently joined Glenn Beck’s radio show and confirmed the rumor that Rush wanted his death certificate to deliver one last jab at the media.

Beck asked Kathryn if the rumors about Rush’s death certificate were true. Did Rush’s final official document say that his occupation was “greatest radio host of all time”?

Kathryn laughed as she replied, “Yes. We have to be on brand at all times. … Another thing that we wanted to do and a way to tweak the media as a final goodbye from Rush, which we know he certainly would have loved."

TMZ posted a copy of Limbaugh's death certificate:

Got More RV Use This Year Than Expected

Above, yours truly in Monument Valley two weeks ago.

When gasoline prices started to skyrocket this year, I didn't think I would be getting much use out of the motorhome.

But then prices started to fall during the summer and they got to the point that I could afford to go do some traveling.

First, in July, my ex-roommate Jessica and I went to Durango, Colorado and Navajo Lake in New Mexico. Both were reasonably close to home and I only needed a tank and a quarter for the whole trip.

Above, aboard the Durango train in July.

Then, a month later, I headed up to Ouray and Ridgway, Colorado for the John Wayne Cancer Foundation's Grit Series 5K and Half Marathon. The amount of fuel for that was the same as the Durango trip.

Above, yours truly with Patrick Wayne near Ridgway, Colorado August 27.

Then, I attended the Lost Dutchman Chapter, ECV's fall clampout near Ash Fork, Arizona in September. I only needed one tank of gas for that trip.

Above, The Beast at the Lost Dutchman clampout near Ash Fork. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

This month, I headed up to Monument Valley for a couple of nights. That trip also only required one tank of gas.

Currently, the gasoline price averages for New Mexico are as follows (unleaded regular, mid-grade and premium) from AAA:

New Mexico $3.619 $3.953 $4.247

As high as those prices are, they're still much better than California's. If I were to still a resident there, I definitely would not be using the motor home much, if at all. Luckily, I am at the right place and at the right time when it comes to gas prices.

Here's California's (from AAA):

California $5.675 $5.902 $6.040

RV Shipments Plunge In September

Above, Goulding's Lodge Campground near Monument Valley. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Well, it was bound to happen. RV shipments from the RV manufacturing capital of Elkhart, Indiana have dropped in September. 2021 saw record RV shipments due to the pandemic and people wanting to vacation safely.

According to Chuck Woodbury at RV Travel:

The champagne has quit popping in the RV manufacturing capital of Elkhart, Indiana, after celebrating record shipments and sales.

Results for the RV Industry Association’s September 2022 survey of manufacturers determined that total RV shipments ended the month with 28,333 units, a decrease 48.5% compared to the 55,014 units shipped in September 2021. Through September, RV shipments are down 8.2% compared to the same point last year with 415,594 wholesale shipments.

Gallup 9th Street Flea Market

Above, the Gallup 9th Street Flea Market. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

It has been about two years since I was last at the Gallup 9th Street Flea Market, thanks to the pandemic. But prior to that, I have attended it a few times and it is a good place to spend an hour or two browsing around.

Things appear to be back to normal and the Gallup 9th Street Flea Market is up and running again.

Only In Your State has posted an article on the flea market with photographs.

They begin with:

You can’t go wrong when you visit a flea market in New Mexico. You can find unique items, great deals, and fun gifts. But if you’re looking for a flea market that has it all, be sure to check out Gallup Flea Market. In addition to offering great treasure hunting, there is delicious food, great music, and even pony rides for the kids!

Trafalgar Group Poll: Ronchetti Leading Lujan Grisham

It appears that Republican gubernatorial candidate Mark Ronchetti has received a post-debate bounce.

He is now leading Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham in the latest Trafalgar Group poll.

According to the PiƱon Post:

The poll, which oversampled Democrats (47.6 percent) versus Republicans (36.3 percent) and oversampled women (52 percent) versus men (48 percent), is a clear indicator that Ronchetti has made up the small gap shown in other previous polls, showing him trailing by only single digits.

If this is the case, Ronchetti may actually be doing better than what this poll shows.

Should You Use An RV Tarp?

Above, snow is no problem with an RV shelter. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Ah, autumn. It is that time of the year when the daytime temperatures have moderated from the summer heat.

That is, if one happens to be in a climate where it doesn't get bone-chilling cold at night or during the day. We had a snowstorm pass through my area of New Mexico yesterday morning that dumped about two inches of snow. It has left the area, but left behind cold nighttime temperatures in the 20s.

However, my motorhome is safely tucked away in its own garage/barn.

There are those who don't have shelters for their RVs and have to resort to tarps.

What kinds of tarps are good or bad for RVs? A new article in Do It Yourself RV will answer that question.

They begin with:

With winter fast approaching, it’s time to think about getting our RVs covered up and out of the elements. RVs are susceptible to damage from moisture that can accumulate when seals are damaged.

There are a few ways to protect your RV from the elements. Heated indoor RV storage is the ideal way to store your RV. However, many RVers don’t have access to this RV storage solution for one reason or another.

If you are one of these RVers, don’t despair. There are other things you can do to help protect your RV from the throes of winter. Storing an RV in an RV shelter or using an RV cover are other ways you can go. Another thing you can do is use an RV tarp to help your RV stay safe and dry throughout the winter.

Brr! Baby, It's Cold Outside!

Above, yesterday's snow is mostly gone now. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

A couple of minutes ago, I took a gander at my weather apps. According to them, it is colder than a witch's t*t outside!

According to The Weather Channel, it is 25° outside. The National Weather Service says it's 24°. The Weather Bug says it is 23°. The storm system that brought us about 2" of snow yesterday has moved out of the area, but it left frigid temperatures behind.

I don't doubt it.

The National Weather Service forecast for today and tomorrow:

 Today

Sunny, with a high near 55. West wind 5 to 10 mph.
Tonight
Mostly clear, with a low around 26. West wind around 5 mph becoming south after midnight.
Wednesday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 57. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon.
Wednesday Night
Partly cloudy, with a low around 30. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph.

Dry Camping Rules You Need To Know

Above, dry camping in Quartzsite, Arizona. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Those of us with RVs have more flexibility over where we stay overnight, especially those with RVs that are self-contained.

We can either stay at a campground, with or without hookups, at a parking lot where overnighting is permitted or at a rest area.

Staying overnight without hookups is generally referred to as dry camping. The last time I dry camped at a parking lot was in the RV parking area of Twin Arrows Hotel and Casino, a few miles east of Flagstaff, Arizona off Interstate 40.

There are some rules travelers should follow so that RVers are continued to be welcomed.

Do It Yourself RV has posted a list of them. They are all common sense rules.

They begin with:

Dry camping simply means camping without connecting to power, water, or sewer. While the terms “boondocking” and “dry camping” are often used interchangeably, they can have slightly different meanings.

Boondocking usually refers to camping without hookups away from developed areas. Dry camping typically means camping pretty much anywhere you can park your rig but with no hookups. Dry camping is done at rustic campgrounds but also includes big-box store parking lots, truck stops, Harvest Host locations, and rest areas. Of course, there are some dry camping rules you’ll want to know before you set up camp.

New 1921 Morgan Silver Dollar

With Bidenflation eating away at our Monopoly paper money, the best thing to do is to invest in precious metals, coins or bars, of gold or silver. Silver is a lot more affordable at $19.31 per ounce.

My latest is a 1921 Morgan Silver Dollar, grade AU (Almost Uncirculated). 1921 Morgan Dollars aren't the most sought after, so deals on these can be found easier. The way I see it, silver is silver and better grades are bonuses as they are also over 100 years old.

From Wikipedia:

The Morgan dollar is a United States dollar coin minted from 1878 to 1904, in 1921, and beginning again in 2021.

Coin deals can be found, but one has to know where to find them.

While I was going through my coin collection, I went through some old "piggy banks" I had and found some good vintage (quarters, nickels, dimes) coins and foreign coins (from Japan, Mexico, India, Canada and Cuba). Those got packaged and included in the collection. They are generally called "junk coins".

Did Some Snow Shoveling

A little while ago, I finished doing some snow shoveling.

I estimate the amount of snowfall was around 1 /12 to 2 inches. Some of it has already melted and the clouds are breaking up. That is quite a bit of snow this early in the autumn/winter season. I expected a light dusting, so this amount came as a surprise. However, we can always use the water.

Before heading back into the house, I did take a few photos while I was outside and all bundled up.

It's The Josey Wales!

First Snow

A few minutes ago, I flipped on my flood lights and found that the forecast snow showers have arrived.

It is about 28° outside, so it should stick for a while.

This marks the first snowfall for this time of year with out usual brief autumn.

Look like I'll have to get the snow shovel out of the garage.

I took a few photos:
