California RV Show Returns

One of the last things I did just before moving to New Mexico was to attend the California RV Show in Pomona in October 2017.

After this, the California RV Show was cancelled when COVID hit. It hadn't been held since, until this past week. 

According to the following article in Woodall's Campground Magazine, it was a big success.

They start the article with:

Despite rising gas prices and war, the California RV Show, held March 20-22, drew more than 20,000 paying visitors. The event, which took place at the Pomona Fairplex, was the first major RV show in Southern California in almost six years.

“Given there hadn’t been anything in California for years, I thought anything over 10,000 attendees would be a success,” said RV Supershows President Rob Lynch. “The fact that we exceeded my expectations by more than double truly excites me for the future. Pomona is back – Pomona’s back in a big way.”

Exhibiting dealers and OEMs included: Aboard RV, Airstream, Beaumont RV, Best RV Center, Blue Compass RV, Ford Motor Company (Towing Bootcamp), Galaxy RV, Giant RV, Marjon RV, Pebble RV, Rovikk, Sport Truck RV, The RV Super Store and Venture Explorers.

It is nice to see the California RV Show return.

Gallup Gun Show

The other day while driving in Gallup to go to the Gallup Flea Market, I noticed a small sign (the size of a realtor sign) in a vacant lot. I noticed it said "gun show", but drove on without stopping to look.

Then this morning, while perusing the Gun Owners of New Mexico Facebook page, I came across this:

Since I haven't been to a gun show since the last Great Western Gun Show at the Fairplex in Pomona, California in the late 1990s, I decided to go. I am glad I did.

The Gallup Gun Show is a small show, but it had plenty of vendors. I spoke with one of the sponsors and he said that this is a new show, with the first one held last April. The next one will be in March. The dates will be March 14-15, 2020 at the same venue, the Gallup Community Service Center (off Exit 22 of Interstate 40).

While wandering around the tables, I found the prices of the guns for sale to be quite reasonable even though I wasn't looking to buy any guns. While there, I did buy a couple of boxes of 30-30 Winchester ammo for the Winchester 94.

The show host for the Gallup Gun Show is Los Alamos Ammo. They gave me a list of upcoming gun shows in New Mexico, some they host and some are hosted by others. While looking over, I said there's a lot of shows. One of the hosts replied, "This is a gun state!"

After leaving the gun show, I relaxed at home over a cup of coffee. Once I was done with that, I got the Jeep out of the garage and did some driving through Six Mile Canyon.

It turned out to be a rather enjoyable day.

California RV Show Moves To Fontana

When I began attending the California RV Show in the 1980s, it was held at Dodger Stadium. To me, this venue was the most convenient as far as travel and drive time.

Then, it was moved to the Fairplex in Pomona. I attended it there in 2017.

Now, it is going to be held in Fontana.

The Fontana Herald-News reported:

The 67th Annual California RV Show will be held at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana for the first time. 

Discounted tickets are now available online for the event, which will run Oct. 4-13 and is produced by the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA). 

Interested persons can visit https://www.californiarvshow.org to save $2 per ticket. Parking is free. 

“The biggest RV show on the West Coast is only a few weeks away in a brand new location,” said RVIA Show Manager Tom Gaither. “We’re sure to have high attendance numbers this year and don’t want our guests to have to stand in line at the box office.”

California RV Show and Others Coming Up

Fall is not too distant in the future, which means RV shows will be held around the country.

If one is interested in buying a motorhome or trailer, seeing what's new and available in one location is quite handy.

The California RV Show will be held October 6 - 15 at the Fairplex in Pomona. I am going to try to attend this one. Along with RVs, accessories and other vendors usually set up booths.

California RV Show Around The Corner

Although it is still early August, autumn is just around the corner and that means that RV show season will be starting soon.

The big one to attend is the California RV show. It is the 64th annual show. I used to go to it when it was held at Dodger Stadium back in the 1980s.

It will be held at the Fairplex in Pomona October 7 to October 16. As I have a clamp-out the weekend of the 7th, I will probably go mid-week or during the final weekend.

Besides RVs, the show will also have RV parts, accessories, vacation packages, services and "just plain fun stuff!"

There will be sports celebrities giving free autographs such as James Worthy, Eric Dickerson, Bobby Grinch, Steve Garvey and more.
