Yesterday, the deck was repaired.
Last month, friend Mitch Geriminsky stepped on it and almost fell through. The supporting bars were flaking apart from wood rot. Apparently, the previous owner did not use treated wood beams. It was a 13' support beam that splintered.
I hired a local handyman (Clint) to shore up the deck. We went to Home Depot to pick up some treated wood (mainly 2" x 6"). We ended up making two trips there. I have an extra 12' board in case of future problems. Two support beams got replaced.
Only two top boards needed replacing.
All I need to do now is to repaint the deck. It was last painted in 2018 just after I moved in.
