Robert Kinoshita, R.I.P.

The name Robert Kinoshita is not a very familiar name to people, but he is well-known to fans of classic science-fiction.

According to the Rafu Shimpo:

Robert Kinoshita, whose robot designs have become American pop culture icons, passed away on Dec. 9.

Kinoshita designed the title character of Tobor The Great (1954), Robby the Robot of Forbidden Planet (1956) and the robot from television's Lost In Space, among others.

He was 100 years old.

Now that I got my television antenna properly set-up, I can now get MeTV and watch some vintage shows before heading off to work on Saturday nights:

Muriel Mumy, Mother of Bill Mumy, Passes Away

Condolences to actor Bill Mumy (Will Robinson of the Lost In Space television show of the 1960s) for the passing of his mother, Muriel Mumy, just a few hours ago. She was 97.

It is uncanny that Bill and I should lose our moms with both of our birthdays within days from now (and we're the same age).

I've sent him my condolences at Facebook.
