One thing I noticed while in several national parks is the scarcity of reliable cellular service. This was very true of Yosemite National Park. The only place where I was able to use my cell phone with some reliability was at the Ahwahnee Hotel (now called the Majestic Hotel due to the lawsuit with Delaware North).
Grand Teton National Park is about to upgrade cell service within the park, but centered in developed areas.
According to the Jackson Hole News & Guide:
Millennials in places like Jenny Lake and Signal Mountain may soon have the LTE they need to reliably get their Instagram and Snapchat fixes.
Grand Teton National Park is planning on overhauling its 2-decade-old telecommunications infrastructure. A plan stemming from six telecommunications companies that do business in Northwest Wyoming would add modern fiber optic cables and camouflaged cell towers to places such as Moose, South Jenny Lake, Signal Mountain, Colter Bay and possibly along the corridor to Yellowstone National Park’s South Entrance.
“We’re looking only at developed locations within the park,” Teton park spokeswoman Denise Germann said. “These proposed locations are areas that support critical operations or they see high numbers of visitors.”
The park also seeks to boost cell and internet services to keep employees satisfied. To read more, go here.
