Hillary Klug's "Howdy Y'All"

Yesterday, the CD I ordered arrived in the mail.

It is up and coming musician Hillary Klug's "Howdy Y'All", a collection of her favorite traditional songs inspired by her upbringing in the old-time musical heritage in Middle Tennessee.

It is a very pleasant album of songs such as "Old Suzanna", "Cotton Eyed Joe", "Allie Cat" and others. I listened to it following my Jeep jaunt in Six Mile Canyon yesterday.

Besides being a singer, she is a top-notch fiddle (violin, for those in Rio Linda) player and buck dancer.

She has appeared on the Mike Huckabee Show on Fox.

She is definitely a rising star in the music scene.

"Cops" Cancelled

During the last few years of my dad's life (he passed away 20 years ago), he and I would sit together and watch Cops on Saturday nights.

According to the New York Times:

‘Cops,’ Long-Running Reality Show That Glorified Police, Is Canceled 

The show’s 33rd season was expected to premiere on the Paramount Network on June 15.

The show didn't "glorify" police, it showed what a tough job police work is and what police officers have to go through.

I guess this is the latest casualty of the current "cancellation culture" brought on by the Left.

World Series Game 4 A Win For Fox

Game 4 of the 2017 World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Houston Astros was a rating win for Fox.

According to Deadline Hollywood:

For a baseball battle that was scoreless until the sixth inning, Game 4 of the 2017 World Series knock the drama out of the park in the end last night.

When the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Joc Pederson delivered a three-run homer in the ninth inning, Game 4 went from grinder to jaw dropper at Minute Maid Park in Houston. A result that saw the Dodgers win 6-2 over the Houston Astros and break their two game losing streak to tie up the 2017 World Series 2-2. 

Scoring a 10.6/20 in metered market results, Game 4 of the 2017 World Series was a home run for the broadcaster.

Tonight's game (Game 5) starts tonight with pitchers Clayton Kershaw on the mound for the Dodgers and Dallas Keuchel for the Astros. After tonight, the World Series will return to Dodger Stadium for the final games.

"Jihadist Cancer"

"Peaceful" Moslems are giving Islamic terrorists tacit approval by remaining silent. 

When I posted the above at Facebook the other day, a friend replied:

In theology, they call that "sins of omission".
In other words, failing to do anything, that which you must necessarily and morally do.
I like the quote too that 'all that is necessary for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing.'

Rupert Murdoch agrees with us.

The Hollywood Reporter posted:

Rupert Murdoch is speaking out after Paris was hit by terror attacks earlier in the week. 

The 21st Century Fox Chairman and CEO tweeted that "Maybe most Moslems peaceful, but until they recognize and destroy their growing jihadist cancer they must be held responsible," going on to tweet "Big jihadist danger looming everywhere from Philippines to Africa to Europe to US. Political correctness makes for denial and hypocrisy."

The left-wing/liberal media won't even acknowledge that these terrorists are Islamic. How are we supposed to win a war against an enemy if one won't even identify that enemy for what it is?

Rupert Murdoch is right.

"Gotham"

Finally, I watched the new Fox television series Gotham last night. It came on before Sleepy Hollow.

Gotham is an interesting concept. It is about Gotham City, Jim Gordon (Benjamin McKenzie), Bruce Wayne and the city's criminal underworld many years before Wayne becomes Batman.

At this point, Bruce Wayne's parents were just murdered and detective Jim Gordon promised Bruce to find their killer and bring him to justice.

The show introduces different characters who will later become foes of Batman. The Penguin and Catwoman were two that were featured last night. The Penguin character is quite obvious as those of us familiar with Batman lore know that Oswald Cobblepot is The Penguin's real name. In last night's episode, there was a young girl who managed to escape out of Gordon's handcuffs. Her name was Selena. Again, those familiar with Batman lore know that Catwoman's real name is Selena Kyle.

Series regular Oswald Cobblepot was played by Robin Taylor. David Mazouz, formerly of the television series Touch, plays the young Bruce Wayne.

In last night's episode, crooked police officials were sent skyward to their doom (in the stratosphere) by being attached to weather balloons. It was up to Gordon to figure out who the culprit is. The show has some gallows humor, most evident when one of the victims came back down (right on top of an old lady walking her dog).

I think I will keep on watching Gotham. My grade: A.

Sleepy Hollow Returns

Ichabod Crane, the Headless Horseman and the gang are back!

It seems like it has been since during the Revolutionary War when we last saw a new episode of Sleep Hollow broadcast. But tonight the series returned for the beginning of its second season on Fox.

Tonight's episode was a good one that featured Benjamin Franklin.

According to the story, Franklin didn't send up a key on a kite's string to discover electricity, he sent it up to destroy it. He didn't succeed, so it is up to Ichabod Crane and Lt. Abbie Mills to find it in present day.

The key in question was the way to unlock the way out of purgatory for the various demons and their army to wage war upon the world.

I am glad Sleepy Hollow is back. Now I have something to watch on Monday nights!

The evening more made more enjoyable as we had homemade chocolate chip cookies (by my roomie) to munch on during the show.
