Teacher Tells Students To Write Anti-Gun Letters To Congress

The Looney Left Report

The nuttery from the Left keeps marching on.

The latest is from a middle school in Georgia. (What?! Left-leaning teachers in Georgia?!)

According to Fox Opinion:
Boys and girls at Hampton Middle School in Georgia were instructed by their teacher to write letters to lawmakers calling for stricter gun control laws.
"You are trying to persuade lawmakers to have stricter gun laws to help prevent another school shooting from taking place," the assignment declared. "For this assignment, you are writing a letter to the lawmakers of the United States. The purpose of this letter is to pressure lawmakers to have stricter gun laws in the United States.
Blue Lives Matter obtained a copy of the social studies assignment from a police officer whose son was in the classroom.
"I asked him what he had for homework that night, and he said he had to write a paper on gun control," William Lee told Blue Lives Matter. "I looked at it, and I told my son, 'No, you're not doing that assignment.' Then I emailed his teacher the next day and told him that my son would not be writing that."
Good for Officer Lee!
The teacher told Officer Lee his son would be excused from the lesson and would not be penalized.
Additionally, the school district says they never approved of this (they said they don't approve any politically biased assignments) and the there was "never any intent to send them."

Students Suspended For Going To Gun Range With Family

The Looney Left Report

This sounds like something from The Onion. Only it isn't.

What is the difference between school administrators/teachers who are either a.) assholes, b.) lunatics or c.) both?

Answer: Absolutely nothing!

Here's a story from Townhall.com that provides proof of the above:
Here's an outrageous story to end the week.
A pair of students in New Jersey were reportedly suspended, one for an entire school week, after officials saw they went to the gun range with family and posted a photo of the outing on social media.
Sounds far-fetched? Here's where Townhall got the story:
From NJ.com:
A New Jersey school district that allegedly suspended two high school students this week over a gun photo taken during a family visit to a private shooting range is facing community backlash and the threat of a lawsuit over district policies.
The photo of four rifles, ammunition clips and a gun duffel bag was shared by one of the students on the social media app Snapchat with the caption "fun day at the range," according to Lacey Township resident Amanda Buron, a family friend of one of the students.
A screen capture of the image made the rounds among other students and later brought to the attention of Lacey Township High School officials. Buron said the students received a five-day in-school suspension for violating the school's policy on weapons possession.
What?! One cannot possess weapons to go to a firing range with family members?

As Townhall pointed out:
Not only do tyrannical, leftist school administrators believe constitutional rights end once students step onto campus, they apparently also believe they shouldn't be exercised freely outside of school jurisdiction.

Eikaiwa Limbo For English Teachers In Japan

If you have considered becoming an English language teacher in Japan (I did at one point), you may want to think again after reading an article posted by The Japan Times.

They start it with:
Every year, thousands of young native English-speakers fly to Asia in search of an adventure, financed by working as English teachers. They come from Australia, New Zealand, the U.S., Britain, Canada and elsewhere.
But it can be risky leaping into another country on the promise of an “easy” job. In Japan’s competitive English teaching market, foreign language instructors are treading water. “Subcontractor” teachers at corporate giant Gaba fight in the courts to be recognized as employees. Berlitz instructors become embroiled in a four-year industrial dispute, complete with strikes and legal action. Known locally as eikaiwa, “conversation schools” across the country have slashed benefits and reduced wages, forcing teachers to work longer hours, split-shifts and multiple jobs just to make ends meet.
I remember the uproar when the biggest eikaiwa, Nova, collapsed and left hundreds of foreign teachers stranded in Japan back in 2007. When the collapse started, teachers didn't get paid on time or not paid at all. It was one big mess.

I made a trek to San Francisco to attend a recruitment meeting for another company. I found that much was promised and much was not mentioned or minimized. To make a long story short, the misrepresentations made by the company caused them to fully reimburse me for my travel expenses. So I ended up with a nice little 2-day paid "vacation" on their dime. (Funny thing, an insurance claims job came through while I was there.)

Pink Friday: A Waste of Time

California teachers are going out tomorrow for "Pink Friday" to protest the possible lay-offs of teachers. They are asking marchers to wear pink. Why pink? They say it is to symbolize the possible "pink slips" that may be issued laying off educators.

According to the organizers' website:

California's public schools, colleges and universities are facing more than $11 billion in state budget cuts. These cuts are going to impact an entire generation of kids and alter public education for years to come.

March 13 is the deadline for school districts to issue preliminary pink slips to California's teachers. Last year, more than 10,000 teachers got pink slips and nearly 5,000 lost their jobs. And this year could be much worse.

Please join us on Friday, March 13 and Stand Up for Schools.

Some people, particularly men, who are sympathetic to the cause recoil over wearing pink.

While it is well and good to support education, the fact is: California is broke! Taxpayers are paying the highest taxes in the country and adding more taxes on business will just drive them out of the state. Where do these people think they'll find the $11 billion?

The only way out of this mess is to reform the California budgeting and taxation system. Running around protesting may make one "feel good," but it does not solve the problem of financing.
