You can tell when the Obama campaign is in a panic when they viciously attack a critic. This occurred with Stanley Kurtz and Jerome Corsi. Now they and the MSM are attacking Joe the plumber.
Michelle Malkin posted:
Six-term Sen. Joe Biden’s got some nerve going after citizen Joe the Plumber. But the entrenched politician from Delaware, who fancies himself the nation’s number one Ordinary Joe, had no choice. Obama-Biden simply can’t tolerate an outspoken citizen successfully painting the Democratic ticket as socialist overlords. And so a dirty, desperate war against Joe Wurzelbacher is on.
Wurzelbacher never claimed to be making $250,000 a year. He told Obama that he might be “getting ready to buy a company that makes about $250,000, $270,000″ a year. His simple point was that Obama’s punitive tax proposals would make it more difficult to realize his dream.
Obama’s followers couldn’t handle the incontrovertible truth. Left-wing blogs immediately went to work, blaring headlines like “Not A Real $250k Plumber!” Next, they falsely accused Wurzelbacher of not being registered to vote (he’s registered in Lucas County, Ohio, and voted as a Republican in this year’s primary).
Next, they called him a liar for identifying himself as undecided. Only registered Democrats and fake Republican tools used in mainstream media stories and YouTube debates are allowed to use that label, you see.
Next, award-winning liberal blogger Joshua Marshall cast Wurzelbacher as some kind of rabid freak for calling Social Security a “joke” – as if no working-class Americans could believe that the federal government’s entitlement programs were a rip-off unless they were bought and paid for by the McCain campaign.
Then, suddenly, the journalists who wouldn’t lift a finger to investigate Barack Obama’s longtime relationships with Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright sprang into action rifling through citizen Joe Wurzelbacher’s tax records.
The media has been camped out in the front yard of Joe the plumber's home and published articles decrying that "he has no plumbers license" (he works for a plumber who does), has debts (who doesn't?) and has a property tax lien (is that unusual?). They've called his dream to own his own plumbing business "a fantasy."
The issue isn't Joe himself, it is what Barack Obama said to Joe last weekend that he wants to "spread the wealth." Because Obama was caught in an unguarded moment (and on videotape), he exposed himself for the neo-Marxist he is. Small wonder he refused McCain's challenge for ten townhall debates.
The recent major (and credible) polls show a 3-2 point difference between John McCain and Obama. The Democrats are in a panic. Now they are running ads claiming that McCain wants to cut Medicare.
They hoped to coast along the final three weeks before the election. But they can't since the polls are so close. Now they are embarking on throwing everything but the kitchen sink at McCain.
Sarah Palin is still drawing huge crowds. She continues to electrify the GOP base and is drawing blood in her attacks on Obama. The tide is turning and the Obamatrons are hysterical.
Good. Let them panic. That's when more missteps are made. Obama's inexperience will cause him to make more.
UPDATE: The Rosett Report has a good post on the attacks on Joe the plumber called First They Came For Joe The Plumber

The entire "socialist" meme being pushed by the McCain/Palin ticket is a red herring. The reality is that there won't be any broad new social programs, no matter who is elected. The difficulty lies in financing the obligations that our society has already accrued. Our government is over $10 billion in debt (when we include the money to be spent in the bailout), and the interest on that sum is astronomical. This is eroding international confidence in our currency. What "Joe the plumber" really represents is the large contingent of middle class schmucks that wouldn't recognize their enlightened self-interest if it bit them on their collective ass. People like Wurzelbacher, who still believe in realizing the "American Dream" through the "free market system" are drinking the Kool-Aid that is destroying our country.
* To really understand what transpired between Obama and Wurzelbacher, you have to see the complete video and/or read the trancript. You can do that HERE.
NOTE: If you didn't see it in the above link, you can find out how the McCain and Obama tax plans will affect you HERE.

That would be nice, if true. But if Obama is elected and Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi achieve "veto-proof" numbers in Congress, we're in for a wild ride.

So you think the average American is a "schmuck" who believes in the American Dream. That is such an elitist comment. So you know better? LOL!
The average American plays by the rules. They may hate paying their taxes, but they do it. They may hate getting the proper licensing and registration to practice their craft, but they do it. Most people would rather be wealthy than what they are, but they don't lie about planning to purchase a company.
"Joe-the-fake-plumber" is a woefully ill-informed partisan hack that has bit off much more than he can chew. Sorry if it offends you... but that's the truth. I believe that there are a lot of people who have woken up that the system is built to screw the middle class. Unfortunately there are still way too many that buy the GOP propaganda that progressive taxation is "socialist".
The government is way over $10 billion in debt, it is in the trillions.
You ignore the fact that Joe the plumber may not have his own license, but he is able to work under his employer's license. Also, he's not the issue. It is Obama's comment that's the issue.
Funny how it is whenever someone poses a big threat to Obama that the Democrats and the MSM set out to destroy that person. I heard the entire dialog between Wurzelbacher and Obama.
Nice try, but it doesn't hold water.
armand...
yeah, I know. Your realize that was a typo, right?
I agree that Joe's not the issue. He couldn't be, because he's misrepresenting himself completely He's a symbol for the ill-informed middle class "everyman" that continues to let himself get screwed by the GOP because he thinks that eventually he will join the ranks of the wealthy. I know plenty of people like that, who are brainwashed into believing that progressive taxation is "socialism"... and of course, "socialism" equates to "communism", which equates to our former Cold War bogey man.
A lot of people are sick of being lied to, and they find no satisfaction in watching a self-described "hero of the working class" parroting the brainwashing that he's managed to internalize so well. Yeah, perhaps it's a bit unfair that people are attacking the messenger. But maybe I could feel a little sympathy for "Joe" if he didn't pander so much to the ruling classes that exploit his ignorance.
Joe didn't misrepresent himself. He said he's a plumber who wants to buy his own business.
