Skyfall, the 50th anniversary film in the James Bond movie franchise, is one hell of a great movie. In it, M's past comes back to haunt her and it is up to agent 007 to protect her. (Sorry, if you were expecting spoilers.)
Many have written that Skyfall is the best James Bond movie. I don't agree. I think Goldfinger is the greatest Bond movie of them all. But Skyfall comes very close.
For a fifty-year-old franchise, Skyfall is the perfect "anniversary movie." James Bond of the movies (and, to an extent, of the books) comes full circle. We have a new 'Q', we also have a new 'Miss Moneypenny' (although they have her first name wrong). Also, we see the return of M's original office set (with the upholstered door) and Miss Moneypenny's outer office. Those are great reminders of the Bernard Lee days as 'M.'
The story delves into James Bond's childhood and it plays a big part in the final eighth of the movie.
Daniel Craig does a great job (again) as 007. Next to Sean Connery, I think he is the best Bond.
The movie is probably the longest (if not the longest) in running time at about two hours, twenty-three minutes. The running time is hardly noticeable as it moves at a brisk pace.
My grade: A+.
