The Superman Plaque Is Installed!

The Adventures of Superman plaque is now installed!

I arrived at 5400 Wilbur Ave. in Tarzana around 8:40 in the morning and found the whole block along Wilbur Ave. occupied for a location shoot by Paramount Pictures. Fortunately, Chris and Jenna, the owners of the house where the plaque is located, advised the Paramount security people of our work. We had no problem, in fact, many of the crew came by to "oooh" and "ahhh" the plaque.

It was interesting to the Paramount crew that they'd be working on a location shoot, about 5-8 doors north of where we were, as we were placing a plaque commemorating another location shoot that took place 61 years ago on that street.

Once Jose, our hired worker arrived, we began to dig out the sod and several inches of ground. While Jose did the digging, I installed two 3/8" bolts to the bottom of the plaque. 2 holes were drilled in the bottom and I filled each with epoxy glue/sealant to hold them in. This was done first so that the epoxy would be dried sufficiently before we put the plaque in the ground. It takes about 20 minutes for the epoxy to dry.

After this was done, I began mixing the concrete that would be layered at the bottom of the hole for the bolts and plaque to be anchored in.

This all went like clockwork as the hole was finished by the time I had the cement fully mixed. We then poured the cement into the hole and leveled it. After this, the plaque was placed in it and pushed down into the hole. It went perfectly! The cement was also quick-drying, and we had to hurry a little before it set.

It took us a little over an hour to complete the work.

All is ready for the plaque dedication Saturday morning at 9:00!
