If I were a resident of Idaho, I would have voted for the Winchester 94 as the official state gun. But the Winchester 1873, "The Gun That Won The West", won in the non-binding advisory vote.
The Winchester 1873 was a good choice, though.
On the vote, The National News Desk wrote:
WASHINGTON (TNND) — Idaho voters chose the Winchester Model 1873 rifle as the official state gun, according to The Associated Press' projection.
The rifle received 31.2% of the vote, and the Winchester Model 1894 ranked second with 25.5% as of Wednesday afternoon, with 91% of the vote in, per the AP.
The other four options were the 1873 Colt Single Action Army Revolver “Peacemaker,” Remington Model 700 bolt-action rifle, Colt M1911 .45 automatic Colt pistol, and M1 Garand rifle.
