Roswell UFO Festival July 5th - 7th

It must be that time again in New Mexico.

I received the first email from the organizers of AlienFest, the downtown mainstreet portion of the 2024 UFO Festival in Roswell, New Mexico. I attended the 2018 UFO Festival and had a great time.

This year, the UFO Festival will be held on July 5th-7th, 2024.

Alien Fest and UFOlogist Invasion In Roswell

Looking for someplace to go to and see this summer?

Here's an idea:

I hadn't realized that this year marks 75 years since the crash of the flying saucer (UFO) in the Roswell, New Mexico area until I saw the above graphic from the International UFO Museum and Research Center.

Whether or not the craft recovered was a flying saucer or some balloon is still being debated today. But it is good that the city of Roswell, New Mexico is celebrating the event each year with a UFO Festival (now called Alien Fest) and the above even coincides with this year's festival which also takes place July 1-3. I attended the 2018 festival and had a good time (a lot of walking is required).

The International UFO Museum and Research Center is worth a trip to Roswell alone.

Roswell, New Mexico is 201 miles south of Albuquerque. 

Since this year is the 75th anniversary, this year's Alien Fest should be a special one!

AlienFest Schedule Posted

The Roswell UFO Festival is coming up in a few weeks, but they're calling it AlienFest* this year (maybe that's a permanent name change?) and they've posted their schedule of events.

AlienFest will be held in Roswell, New Mexico from July 1 to 3. I attended it three years ago and enjoyed it (beware, expect to do a lot of walking).

They posted:

Did you know every event at the AlienFest is FREE and completely family-friendly! Join us at the Chaves County Courthouse July 1-3 and you may just run into a pelican – or swarm of butterflies. You will definitely run into aliens and possibly see a crashed UFO! Free music every day as well! Make your very own tinfoil hat to prevent the aliens from reading your mind. Take plenty of selfies at the selfie stations. Be sure to post your images on social media and tag them with #Alienfest and #UFOFestival. Pick up your passport and visit local merchants to participate in the fun scavenger hunt where you can win free swag and prizes.

Lastly, don’t forget to get some amazing merchandise to commemorate this fun event!

If you're looking for something to do, since G-FEST (the annual Godzilla convention) has been canceled again this year, thanks to the pandemic and Illinois government's response to it, you ought to check out AlienFest.

*Frankly, I think they should stick with Roswell UFO Festival as it is perfectly self-explanatory and "AlienFest" may lead some people to think this has something to do with illegal immigration.
